Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with the ability or effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine in the helping (not necessarily totally curing) cancer? There is this product that this chinese herbalist guy says can help reduce cancer (but not necessarily leiminate it 100%) and it costs like 20 bucks a day and one would have to use it for 2 months to see results. Not sure if there can be any truth to these claims or they are a scam - i know nothing about Chinese medicine so i would appreciate it if you all can share any knowledge or experience about this with me.

And no, I dont have cancer. It is for somebody else that I am inquiring.

thanks in advance

I don't believe bear bile is used for treating cancer. I Googled this:

Bear Bile in Ancient Chinese Culture

Bile is a digestive liquid secreted by the liver and stored in the gall bladder. Bile from bears has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to “cool,” in terms of Chinese physiotherapy, “hot” illnesses, such as inflammations, and to dissolve gallstones and kidney stones. It is also believed to help detoxify the liver and improve vision. According to Walker’s “Mammals of the World” (Ronald M. Nowak, Johns Hopkins University Press 1999), there is some scientific basis for the medical efficacy of bear bile. Bears are the only mammals that manufacture the bile salt ursodeoxycholic acid, which has been shown in Western laboratory tests to be effective in treating some liver diseases. A synthesized form of this substance is widely used to dissolve gallstones without surgery.

okay so the Chinese herbal med is called Tian Lu Oral Liquid.

IT says it is bascially a soybean and certain kind of mushroom extract, that is has been approved by the Ministry of Health in China, provides a registration number, and says that it is also nsured by Safety Insurance Company of China. The distributor in Canada is Kastel Company.

May I trouble some of you who are really good with locating info on the net to search for some info on this and post it here? I am not good with the internet, and cannot be objective and rational in assessing this Chinese herbalist's claim for obvious reasons. I would thus appreciate it if any of you who can comment about this based on some experience, knowledge, info or expertise would do so here and help me figure out if this is just a scam or if it actually can be a real solution for my dad's cancer.

Thanks in advance.
nat

Sorry cgirl, but the only reference I can find to this stuff is this:

Quote:
"An acupuncture clinic displays a hand-lettered sign: "By taking Tian Lu oral liquid -- cancer patients have effective rate of 90-95% cure."

http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_01.0 ... rdale.html

and that's just a passing mention in a long article about other things.

I have to assume that a product that actually works in fighting cancer would have received at least a mention on some web site or a news article, anything really. I wish you and your dad all the best. I unfortunately understand first hand what you are going through.

That's the ONLY reference to it that I've found so far.
