I should be preparing for finals but I got a little distracted and got caught up on some of the post here. I am a Jew (and yes there are black Jews) not only that I am studying to be a Rabbi. If anyone out there has any question about Jewish dietary laws, eating Kosher, what is Kosher or Jewish questions in general send your questions to me. I will be glad to help :D

One more thing I would like to meet other Jews on this forum so if you are out there give me a holla :D

hey, I am atheist now, but was brought up Jewish. So I still consider myself culturally/secular Jewish, but I don't practice or anything like that. Just wanted to say hi!

Hey nice to meet you and thanks for saying hi. I've never been to Austin but I have heard great things about it.

My parents are from Ohio and PA and hail now in South FL for 53 years, so not a NY Jew at all (no offense, but mistaken often as I was born in Miami)...I was a Miami girl *JAP* (or wanna be) growing up...we weren't loaded like the NY Princess's...
So, are your parents converted, or did you or??? Always interesting to hear about black Jewish peeps besides Sammy Davis Jr., ya know. (kidding-but, there aren't a lot)...are you Sephardic or Ashkenazi?
Off to do LEGS!!! Today is a NON cardio day..may still do it tonight tho..I have 3 pounds extra I am carrying with for a few weeks now..I DO NOT like it one bit...but I been loving my vegan, Gluten free jelly squares from Trader Joe's too much ( even sweetened w/ brown rice syrup)

Hey Divamom
Actually there are more Jews of color than you might realize, there are even many synagogues in the United States that are historically black, there is even one here in Philly that I visit a lot. Here are some links to check out

http://bechollashon.org/
http://www.jewishmultiracialnetwork.org/
http://kulanu.org/
http://www.scatteredamongthenations.org ... index.html
http://www.momentmag.com/Exclusive/2009 ... abbis.html
http://washingtonjewishweek.com/main.as ... ionID=&S=1
http://washington.mfa.gov.il/index.php/ ... ladelphia-
http://www.bethshalombz.org/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvRy8bGSpDU
http://manishtana.net/page/who-is-manishtana

These are just a few but there are many many more.
I am in Rabbinical school and since my school was founded by Ashkenazai Jew, I am learning Ashkenazi history, but I am not Ashkenazi nor am I Sephardic, there are a lot of other options it's just in this country we only pay attention to Ashekenazi and Sephardic.

I hope this helps :D

Hello lawsonsj,
Nice to meet you.
I was born Jewish but don’t really follow the religion. I enjoyed the culture, family, and the history of being Jewish growing up.
I do consider myself to be Jewish, but I don't know any other Jewish people outside my own family.
Kenny

This video that you posted does nothing but spread hate. I'm not sure if this is your youtube account are not but that account is hateful and owned by someone that is Anti-Semitic meaning hates Jews and probably hates black people and gay people as well. If you have some real questions about Jewish dietary laws I will be happy to answer them.
