robert
What are some websites you use to find summer apartment rentals? I'm only looking to rent an apartment for 1 month. Any suggestions for websites to find rentals for as short of a duration of 1 month that have more than just big family style vacation homes, but small little apartments for rent for a weekly or monthly basis? Thanks!
Baby Hercules
Start on craigslist for private listings, also consider the option of house sitting for a month, which can be a sweet situation. Then there's Marriot's Residence Inns. http://www.marriott.com/residence-inn/travel.mi Whenever I stayed somewhere over five days, I called them first to wheel and deal. mrsbadmouth
It depends on where you're looking, but a lot of college students have yearly leases but want to leave in the summer, so they sublet. Craigslist has a sublet section.
robert
Thanks for the tips. I'm heading to Rhode Island for a month or perhaps 5-6 weeks. I'll be there in a few weeks. I saw a number of sublet options on Craigslist and I'll be there soon to check things out too. Thanks!

lobsteriffic
Another vote for airbnb. I just used it to find a short term rental for a week and it was great - lots of thing that weren't on Craigslist.
endcruelty
Couchsurfing - Is that still in and hip?
C.O.
yeah couchsurfer.com is actually really great. Forgot about Padmapper.com for sublets... Its cool it combines a bunch of sites like google maps and craigslist to show you on a map all the available apts that come up after you enter your search criteria. I guess there was a major debacle with them recently but I think they are still up and running.
C.O.
Okay, just googled, they are still up and running however they had a cease and desist notice and they no longer work with craigslist. Still should be a resource worth using though I believe. http://techcrunch.com/2012/06/22/padmapper-craigslist-cease-and-desist/
