Pectus excavatum surgery, should I have it?

So I have a chest deformity, went to a chest surgeon with it, had CT scan and all of that stuff, looks like this:

It looks like this in person:

It does not cause any health problems, only that I really don't like how I look

There are two kinds of surgeries:

1st the Ravitch procedure:

Here they open up the chest, and cut out pieces witch overgrow, with this kind of surgery the chest is probably going to stay in the good position after healing, but there will be a big scar on the chest

The other: The Nuss procedure

Here they make only 3-4cm cuts under the arms and put in big bars, I would need to, and has to be in at lest 3-4 years, and there is a big possibility when they remove it the chest goes back to it's former position. but there are no big scars.

I don't know really what to do, my looks bothers me for several years now, and I just really can't get along with myself this way.

For what it's worth, if you hadn't told us to look specifically for the "deformity," I doubt I would have noticed. You look fine. I know you probably aren't going to change your mind about your body just based on this thread, but it's really fine.

If I were you, and I absolutely wanted it fixed, I'd go with the first one. Better results, shorter recovery, and scars are bad-ass.

I have pectus excavatum worse than that and am not planning to have surgery for it. But if you can't get past it after several years, I'd go with the chest scar option. If you're worried about the scar, I would try to work with it by cultivating a tougher look including getting some bad ass chest and arm tattoos.

I would have a cut on my chest like the b version. A scar like that would look like bad-ass?

I want to workout and be muscular, but I'm not a fan of tattoos

I wish there were more options out there. I guess it just comes down in the end to which you'd rather live with for the rest of your life: your chest the way it is, or your chest with a scar.
