German Pitt Force Training

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Found out about this training method last year from a friend in Germany, its a high stress, high intensity training technique (a good thing when used sparingly), which allows for a deeper level of fatigue and stimulation. Its basically a form of rest pause training, whereby you pick a weight you could achieve 8-12 continuous reps to failure with, but instead, you aim for 15-20 reps in rest pause style, for the first several reps you'll only need 2-3 seconds rest between reps, and as the weight becomes more and more challenging, you increase the rest between the reps to as much as 15-20 seconds. Kinda reminds me of the old 20 rep squat method.

Here's some videos of this technique...

Yes mate, perfect for working around a sticking point, the idea behind it is that it allows for some of the by-products of fatigue (such as blood and lactic acid) to drain and get some oxygen before performing the next rep. Another similar approach is Drew Baye's version, that is, using a weight that allows the completion of 5-8 reps, with a 5 second rest pause between each rep. Same idea, just not as stressful as Pitt force.
