Fruit - The PERFECT food!

Fruits can contain a lot of (natural) sugar, and some , like bananas, are high glycemic (which means they affect insulin levels quite a bit, so you have a blast of insulin to your body to cope with the sugar levels). How can fruitarians not get too much sugar?

I read some book at a B&N or some articles or both..

 

Glycemic Index is not as important as overall Glycemic Load.

 

GL.. is determined based on how much effort and time it takes to breakdown a COMPOSITE food and have its sugar hit the bloodstream. So some foods could have high sugar but due to their molecular structures take a certain path in breaking down for digestion.

 

Refined & processed foods are "mostly" (not all) higher GL than pure natural foods.

 

e.g. Whole wheat is better for a similar reason.

I wonder if our anscestors worried about glycemic indexs when they were snacking on their fruit.....

 

I'm sure they were much more active than modern-day folk, and could actually use the excess sugar. Besides, if their diets were anything like wild chimps, they'd be eatiing a lot of greens as well.

That's it! you hit the nail on the head!! what we NEED to do, is become more active!!! Look for opportunities throughout your day to be active!!

 

Going to the grocery store? instead of fighting for a parking stall near the door, park at the far end of the lot and walk (or jog) to the entrance.. etc.

I think that's where a lot of raw vegans go wrong, they are to sedate and they over eat.

 

You mean "too sedentary"? (sedate = calm) .

 

Being too sedentary and eating too much is part of the modern American way of life. Waht are you, a commie?

A lot of people say that they are Raw Vegan but not Fruitarian and that makes no sense at all. We all pretty much eat the same things.

Fruit is such a perfect food. There is NO other form of food with the appeal of fruit. I don't know about you, but there is nothing I eat that I enjoy or crave more than fruit.

 

You ever really look at an apple? it's such a beautiful food. it LOOKS delicious, it smells delicious, do you not just want to bite into it??

 

nature makes it so, that we strongly desire the food which best suits us.

I think it's great when people are willing to try things for themselves....you got nothing to lose

 

one thing that will strike you is how hard it is to stop eating cooked stuff but how easy it is to quit raw stuff!

 

What does that tell you?
