Going Raw In Montana

Recommended Posts

I've decided to go raw like several others recently here at VBB.com

100% will be a challenge, soymilk will be difficult to give up.

The fruit smoothie I'm having right now just isn't the same without soymilk and peanut butter.

_Raven_ has a great thread on various nut milks, but mine never turned out edible.

Certain veggies like broccoli are difficult to eat without dipping.

I've been making my own "ranch" with soymilk and veganaise.

I'll also need to find a good raw salad dressing, I'm sure my current one isn't.

So far 100% raw for day 1

It's too bad my choices for organic are slim up here in Montana

Thanks for the link Bigbwii. I'll never get tired of fruit.

There are some interesting looking recipes on that link

I need to find something to dip my broccoli in and put on my salad.

Not too many greens taste good to me plain

My afternoon snack is a big bowl of Sugar Snap Peas

One green that I can eat without toppings

Serves 11 the bag says, yeah right.

This bag will be gone today

The 2 pound bag has a total of 440 calories

Yay Montana!

I recently went raw a few months ago and the best advice I have is eat whatever you want, as much as you want, as often as you want, as long as it's raw. If you don't like broccoli don't eat it. When you eat things you don't like, you don't want to eat them, so just eat stuff you like. If all you feel like eating is watermelon all day, do it. Please pm me with any questions you may have.

I do have a great raw ranch dressing that I can share.

Ranch Dressing

½ cup lemon juice

1 tablespoon sea salt

1 tablespoon rosemary

1 tablespoon oregano

1 tablespoon sage

1 cup raw macadamia nuts

1/3 cup cold pressed olive oil

1-2 green onion chutes

Blend ingredients in food processor. May need to add water to obtain desired consistency. (I use a little less lemon juice, sea salt and sage)

Smoothies can be done if you squeeze your own orange juice for the base. OJ works incredibly well like that, or just use the nut milks you made for the smoothie base.

I use watermelon as my base for smoothies. I do about 24oz of watermelon, one bag of Whole Foods brand frozen berry mix, 2 bananas, pineapple and half of an apple. Yum!

Watermelon works?! I'll have to try that.

Thanks for all the good ideas and support.

I bought some macadamia nuts to try AJ's ranch recipe

I tried something new today, day 2 of raw for me.

Raw Oatmeal Smoothie

1 cup raw oats

2 cups water

2 bananas

1 apple - I used Gala, that's all they had at the health food store.

1 cup raisins

10 frozen strawberries

I don't know how to describe the flavor.

Must have been pretty good, all of it went up the straw.

For the rest of the day I had 2 more apples, couple handfuls of raisins, and 1 banana.

No veggies today, I'll need to change that.
