  1. I like the fact that he's working to wake up the masses. He's not claiming himself a guru, but demonstrating what is possible and pointing people to those with the knowledge. I give him credit for doing it in a way that is inspiring. Anything that will wake people up to what they are shoveling into their pie holes that is positive is a good thing.
  2. He's the real deal. Read the book and helped a friend tremedously. Here's article by him on vegsource.com http://www.vegsource.com/articles2/klein_colitis.htm -James
  3. Received my vega today. Starting with the small tub. When I opened the jar (broke the plastic seal) there was no paper seal over the mouth of the jar. Is this the way it's suppose to be? Also bought your DVD on vegan fitness. Popping that in tonight. 5 day of Muscle surge program. Sore! But I can feel the effects. -Later James
  4. I visited a Raw vegan restaurant in Salt Lake City in October. Omar's Living Cuisine. He's Lebanese and has some great dishes. Learned a bit on making some various cheeses. One I like for wraps: Walnuts Basil Garlic Pretty simple.
  5. Cubby, You're right. Galaxy Nutritionals has a vegan brand as well that is casein free. Thanks. -James
  6. I think something got lost in translation here. The casein I'm talking about is "cow" derrived. Says it right on the label (cow milk protein). As far as the shaker parmesean, that had it as well. I'm not addicted to any cheese and really don't need an analogue, however I was looking at it for a recipe I was preparing and opted out when I saw the casein. Then I started looking at all the other brands/flavors in the fridge section at whole foods and all of them had "cow" derrived casein in them. Just an FYI. -James
  7. Welcome Tuc. I'm quite new here as well. Hey Offense! If "Bush the Incompetent" thinks about bombing Finland, I'll move to Finland and help the Resistance! Humm, wonder if the NSA picked up on that and now I'm considered an enemy combatant? Gitmo here I come! At least they have health care at Gitmo. Anyway, Welcome Tuc. -James
  8. Don't know if anyone really read the labels but I was looking at the veg.cheese selections and soy/rice or whatever you pick up all contain casein (cow milk protein). Are there any that don't? And since it does, why do they market it as Veg. cheese? -James Arlington, VA
  9. veganpotter, beforewisdom, longtimevegan, DV; Thanks for the warm welcome. Beforewisdom, thanks for the links. I'm familiar with some. Spent most of my time with meetup. I'm already a member of the vegan meetup group in Northern VA. DV, would love to chat about Tom Venuto's plan. Veganpotter - Could use some input on getting through the low carb/prot. only days on Nick Niison's surge. Thanks all -James
  10. Hey Offense74! Both 15s and 7s. 15s is the main game in the Spring and Fall. 7s is used the keep the "girly backs" in shape in the off season (summer). 7s has over the years become so regulated which is good. A tornament style of playing since you're playing 7min. a side with a 1 min rest. You may play 4 games that day as opposed to 15s which is 40min a side and a 10min. half. Interestingly, we play 7s in the sand at the beach. What a great game! 20meter x 80 meter "field" on the beach. Shorts/bear feet. Lot's of kocking around. But quite exhausting trying to run in sand. -James
  11. Thanks Jason! Good to be here! -James
  12. Hey everyone! Been looking at the website for the last week and decided to join. I'm 43, live in Arlington VA. Been a rugby player since the age of 17. I've coached, ref'd, and captained a team in DC for two years. Basically went 100% vegan about 2 yrs ago. I want to kickstart some new training as a vegan and shed some fat. I'm 6' 248, 36w, 45c. My main exercise has been swimming and haven't done much lifting in about a year. That's about to change. Sunday, I start the metabolic surge from Nick Niison - though will be tough as a vegan but I'm hoping this group can help me out with some of the meal planning (the low carb/prot. only days are what I think will be tough ones). The surge is a 36 day cycle. My main workout plan is Tom Venuto's burn the fat, feed the muscle. Again, I did that as a non-vegan in 2003. Should be interesting as a vegan. Looks like a great community and looking forward to chatting with all of you. Robert, I've already sent in my order for some Vega to try at Food Fight. Pics to come. Take care all. James Arlington,VA
  13. Great Flavor! 1 Can chick peas or soak raw garbonzos 2 stalks celery 2 green (scallions) 1/4 cup Veganaise (I get mine at wholefoods market) 1 TBL lemon juice 1 Whole Wheat Tortilla wrap ( I use Wholefoods 365 brand) pepper/ms. dash if you want I don't use salt much and if I do it's either a dash of sea salt or equiv. Mash Garbonzos in mixing bowel with bean/potato masher. Just enough - don't go crazy and make soup out of it. I have some whole beans left over when I'm done. Chop celery and scallions fine add 1/4 cup veganaise Combine all with spatula This makes approximately 4 servings Add to a tortilla wrap and fold it your way! YUM. Breakdown (based upon canned 365 brand garbonzos) 1 Serving= 1 Tortilla Cal=270.5 Pro=6.75g Car=32.6g Fat=13g Fib=6.6g Obviously this is not a high protein meal but you can add it to other items for a meal. To decrease fat, you can limit the veganaise. Maybe just 1 TBLS. Throw down a protein shake and you just might wind up with a full meal! -James Arlington VA
  14. Ok. I'm ordering from Food fight! I'm new and thrilled that this site is here. Thanks Robert. I know you back vega products but i wanted to know if anyone here uses Ultimate meal? I'm trying one can of it and then trying the vega. -James Arlington VA
