Re: Skinny 21 y/o vegan gaining weight and needing a little help

I'm no expert but I can tell you what has helped me to gain over 20 kg / 45 lb in one year. - High protein, moderate-high calorie diet. I weigh about 91 kg / 200 lb now and take in around 200 g protein & around 3500 calories - Lots of water - Heavy compound lifting - Lots of sleep & adequat...

Re: Skinny 21 y/o vegan gaining weight and needing a little help

My understanding was that if your body doesn't have anything to use the protein on it just goes straight through your system without affecting any body functions. I've also heard that over 100g of protein, no matter what your body weight is, is just a kind of overkill and you body wouldn't use it a...

Re: Skinny 21 y/o vegan gaining weight and needing a little help

Don't you think over 40g of protein is an overkill since I'm only working one muscle group? No. If you are truly getting 40g of protein per day (something that is so paltry it is hard for me to imagine), you probably want to ease into increasing protein intake. I would do 40 g/day, then the next da...

Re: How many grams of protein intake recommended

Ryan, your posts are always so thorough and well thought out.

A high protein vegan diet has worked for me, continues to work for me, allows me to feel great, perform well in the gym, and sculpt my body towards what I want it to look like.

I disagree, but we all saw that one coming from a mile away.

There's that old 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight rule, and I think it's a good starting point. You can always modify it from there.

What is the date/location of your comp? I skimmed your blog but didn't see it.

Best of luck!

Re: "I don't need cardio."

Good post. But, let's not forget, weight training IS cardio work to an extent. Olympic weightlifters (who train with many sets of low reps) have some of the strongest, most efficient hearts of all atheletes tested, and they're certainly not known for being people who love to do plenty of work outsid...

He may be, but if I saw a bug on my windshield holding on for dear life, I'd pull over and help him out. YOUR not him. Stop projecting your value system onto other people. Re: RIP Michael Jackson

It's a pretty big leap from having issues to being a child molester. He doesn't deserve to be remembered for a crime he was innocent of. If I wasn't being clear, yes, I completely agree with you. So many people make that leap and I don't think it was ever fair to him. I agree with you guys. On a re...
