Stretching after Power Training?

So I have always stretched individual muscle groups immediately after a hypertrophy, high volume session at the gym. However, and this may seem like a stupid question, but should I stretch each muscle equal amounts after a low-volume heavy day if I want to improve my power?

Complementary food to seitan?

Along with legumes and whole grains, a decent chunk of my daily protein intake comes from seitan due to its relative cheapness and protein-rich nature. Unfortunately seitan is lysine-deficient and doesn't have the best amino acid profile. What foods compliment seitan's amino acid profile? Should I j...

Re: Erg, what did they do to the gym?!

I can't comprehend why most gyms have so many cardio machines and only one rack of 5-100 lb dumbbells. It's frustrating considering that young lifters always have to wait/rotate multiple times between the 15 to 25 lb dumbbells - starting up in my hometown gym, it would take me 6 minutes just to do a...

Re: My upcoming PHAT routine - look good?

Hahahaha 'mirin is internet slang for admiring. Yeah, I've always been a big fan of cable work due to the consistent pressure on the muscles. I'm trying to build up my lats and rear delts at the moment, so I may include those in my assistance. I'll start with just the template and see where things g...

I'm 'mirin, your assistance actually makes sense. I'm excited to start up 5-3-1 now.

Re: My upcoming PHAT routine - look good?

Thankfully I still had the ebooklet and excel sheet for the program in my email from when my friend forwarded the details. I put in my numbers, so only thing to do now is wait and check for progress. I'm very excited. The only thing I'm really unsure about is what assistance, if any, I should includ...

Re: My upcoming PHAT routine - look good?

Thanks! I'll check out some of their articles. I actually did Jim's 5-3-1 last year a few months after I started training, though I doubt I did it completely correctly back then. I've trained continuously and correctly for a full year now otherwise. Here are my maxes: OHP: 165 lbs Benchpress: 245 lb...

Re: We sure are getting BIG! Obesity Map for the US 1970s-No

No surprise my home state of Indiana is high. Absolutely nothing to do in Indiana besides eat garbage and be miserable. My best friend since elementary school has always had a weight problem, and he's the most popular, entertaining, and fun-loving guy anyone could ask for as a friend. So it was a hu...

Very impressive. Yeah, people in my gym always say "vegan bodybuilders got big before they went vegan". Simply increases the incentive to prove them wrongs, so all the more power to us.

Re: Martial Art Suggestions?

I'm taking a few sample classes at my local dojo for Wing Chun, Judo, and Aikido to see which one I like. Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Re: My upcoming PHAT routine - look good?

If I had to choose between aesthetics and power, I'd say power 'til the end of the year. I want to increase my power, lockouts, and explosiveness potential on all of my compound movements (Military Press, Benchpress, squat, deadlift). I've only really ever done volumetric work - I know next to nothi...

My upcoming PHAT routine - look good?

Here's the routine I plan on starting next month, following Layne Norton's PHAT program and philosophy. Although I'll always consider myself a bodybuilder over a powerlifter, I definitely want to increase my power for the time being because I feel that my hypertrophy work has plateaued as a result o...

How long should I cycle lifting routines?

Just what the title says. I started a great high volume training routine at the end of January and saw fantastic results from it, but due to my stubbornness, I kept at it for far too long and began to plateau around the end of last month. I'm planning on switching routines soon, but I was wondering ...
