Yeah I was thinking of the /forum shortcut, not sure about a change in style that would an area for Linus. What kind of style would you prefer? I think this one is fairly unobtrusive

I think the style is fine as is.

The /forum thing would be a convenience for some people, I would use it, but I think most people use bookmarks anyway.

Ya. Changing it from phpBB2 to forum shouldn't be too difficult. I'll put it on my to-do for Sunday. This week is kind of brutal for me in regards to work (8am-8pm each day) so unless it's urgent I'll do it this weekend. :)

As for the style, can you clarify what you mean? One thing I do prefer is a simplistic style as it doesn't take forever to load, even for those that might have less-than-optimal network connections.

i have the forum bookmarked too, but /forum just seems a little more professional to new visitors :)

don't get me wrong the style doesn't necessarily bother me :P one reason i ask is because this style is one of the templates included with phpbb correct? it's always nice to have a distinct look that separates from other phpbb forums.

these two are fairly close to the present template, just a little more modern :)

Hehe.. that's an easy one. As for the design, once I'm in L.A. and settled, I'll take a look into a mod that will let members make a choice or selection as to design (no promises however).

Would be nice if /phpBB2/* would redirect to /forum/*

The way it has been changed breaks all old links. Try to go to any old /phpBB2/something and you get a 404.

Which links are you referring to? Can you give me an example? All I set up was a simple redirect on the forum ID.

Not that I care about this thread in particular, but it's the first example I remember that had old links embedded:

viewtopic.php?f=55&t=20779

All the phpBB2 links don't work.

Ah... right. I'd have to do a search and replace in the database to address old links.

Just redirect /phpBB2 to /forum at the web server level? That way any old links made elsewhere would still work.

Actually, that's what I did. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are referring to.
