Clean Eating

Recommended Posts

Do you eat "clean"? How do you define clean foods?

I've found that on the majority of bodybuilding/figure competition forums, there is a huge emphasis on clean eating and the impact of it on achieving results.

Personally, I try to get most of my calories from unprocessed foods, like oatmeal, tofu, tempeh, natural pb, sprouted grain breads, vegetable oils, veggies, some fruit and protein powder supplements.

Of course, it's not always easy to do in the real world, but I almost always avoid protein bars, very processed soy (i.e. soyburgers), sugar and refined wheat products.

I don't like the term "clean eating." I prefer "whole food vegan."

I avoid processed foods as much as possible, and 'isolated' food elements, even regular supplements, prefering whole-food derived ones. This summer, I'm trying to stay 80% or more raw, and hope to continue it iinto the fall and winter (maybe going down to 50-60% minimum raw in winter).

"Clean" to me is raw whole organic foods.

The closer you get to that, the better.

100% compliance can be a difficult life to lead.

I've tried raw organic oatmeal, it wasn't too bad with fruit, cinnamin and soy milk.

I cook my oats and grains.

I believe most (maybe all) soy product are processed to some degree.

I still eat soy products, mostly milk and a little tofu.

Vegetalbe oils are definitely processed, I try to cook with water or broth.

The majority of my meals are raw fruits and veggies, at least in the summer.
