Day 4 of 12 Days of Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness - Daily Inspiration

From Robert Cheeke's New book Think Differently due out in 2012:

"'Live for the moment' is a statement uttered by many, referring to the here and now, not worrying about yesterday or tomorrow. To be aware of life moment by moment is admirable, very zen-like and worthy of spending time contemplating it fully. But lest we forget the past or the future, as the moment is only that, just a moment. In fact it is the past, those previous decisions that led us to the here and now of the present. We should consider, even for a moment, how our decision making affects us today, right now. Have you ever met people who are constantly in debt? No matter how much money they make, they can’t seem to solve their spending habits? Do you know anyone who, no matter how many days off they have, still can’t seem to get small tasks accomplished? Do you know anyone who says they’re trying to lose weight or lower cholesterol levels, yet their behavior is completely contradictory to their proposed ambition? Are you one of those people?

Now you can see why respecting the behavior of our past, and being transparently aware of it has a tremendous impact on the here and now. Regardless of where you are in your life right now, always remember the past and understand that it has a direct impact on you in the here and now. That acknowledgement alone can make behavioral patterns clearer and understandable. Awareness is the key to positive change and a future that you have much more control over.

The reason the here and now is important to be mindful of is that it is the gateway to our own future. We can write our own tickets, pave our own way, and determine our own destiny, simply by our actions today. What are you doing now? Do you even know what encompasses your time? Are you aware of your own passion, your visions for the future, and current management of the precious time you have? Are your actions in alignment with your goals, dreams and overall vision? If not, do you know why that is the case? If so, are you totally aware of it and able to adjust your focus and intentions to be even more supportive of your eventual achievements?

Take time to monitor your daily activity. Use a journal, a spreadsheet, a simple notepad and pen to record your behavior. See what you’re really doing and what can be shifted or adjusted to better support what you’re really passionate about. Are you studying three hours a night like you think you are and like you tell yourself you are, or are you watching American Idol, playing Farmville and sending instant messages to friends on Facebook? Are you exercising regularly like you planned on to improve your health, or do you go to the gym to watch TV, send text messages or socialize with friends? What are you really doing? Answering that question is the only way to change, and change is the only way to go from where you are now to where you want to be. In essence, ask yourself regularly, “How bad do I want to succeed?” and do what it takes to make it happen. Remember the past, question your thought process, and prepare for the future. What story are you going to tell? Who are you going to become? Think about it.

The future is where we’re all headed. We’ve taken a moment, or hopefully longer than a moment, to recall, contemplate, and reflect on the past, the present, and now we’re poised to look off into the distance towards our bright future. The future is closely related to our past and present and every single one of us has the capacity to become aware of our behaviors, to make positive decisions, and to dictate what our future will look like. External forces aside, we have a whole lot of control over where we’re going."

Quote of the Day

From Robert Cheeke's Best-Selling book Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness - The Complete Guide To Building Your Body on a Plant-Based Diet:

“Someone could have an outstanding comprehension of a bodybuilding diet and a background in nutrition but not have the work ethic and desire to put it into practice. That person won’t be as successful as the person who understands some basics and puts them into action regularly.” – Robert Cheeke

Success Tip of the Day

From Robert Cheeke's new book Think Differently, due out in 2012:

"Take a moment each day to express sincere gratitude toward someone for something. Give thanks often." -Robert Cheeke
