I know we have a bunch of Ultimate Fighting fans on here so I started this thread to chat about it. I'm not really into it but some of my friends compete and train at my gym. There are some general threads about martial arts or boxing, but this one can be specific to Ultimate Fighting. Have Fun!

Anyone interested? My favorite team, the Phoenix Suns, didn't make it to the playoffs this year, but I'm still watching just as closely. I have a feeling it will come down to a rematch of 2007 I believe it was, between the Big 3 in San Antonio and Lebron. This year, I will predict a Spurs vs. Heat Final with the Spurs winning it all. I really like OKC and Chicago is strong. Clippers are fun to watch and cheer for the the Lakers are the most fun to cheer against! Memphis has some awesome fans! What say you?

I'm a nature girl, a wild child. If I don't get outside every day, I get a little tense. If I don't go hiking at least once a week, I get a little twitchy. And it's not really a hike for me unless there's sweating, dirt, rock, danger, altitude, and maybe even a little bleeding as well. I've hiked in 100+ heat, blizzards, pouring rain, lightning storms, and the dead of night. I've seen bears, eagles, coyotes, deer, elk, moose, rattlesnakes, Black Widows, and slugs eleven inches long. Haven't seen Sasquatch or a cougar yet but I've got my fingers crossed. I've found gem quality smokey quartz, mahogany obsidian, and aquamarine. I've climbed 23 of the tallest mountains in …

I see on your site that when you first did P90X, you were not terribly vegan. I would like to pose a suggestion. This time, try to focus less on the protein 'requirement' of the program. You can get plenty of protein on a vegan diet, but if I remember correctly, P90X wants something like 30-40% of your calories from protein, which is quite high. Higher protein diets can help with satiety, but for repairing your body, nothing will help as much as high antioxidant foods like fruits and veggies. So I would focus more on high protein vegan foods, but whole foods, and without neglecting veggie intake! As far as proteins go, I recommend nuts, seeds, tofu, tempeh, beans,…

Hi everyone, I am really interested in Yoga and would like to incorporate it into my weightlifting/sprinting regime. I am the kind of person who likes to train his body equally, so I would not neglect my legs over chest when weightlifting. I am looking to do the same thing with Yoga, train my body's flexibility equally all over the place, that is to say have X number of poses I can cycle through throughout the week that targets my body equally in the realm of flexibility like one does with weightlifting. And, I am looking to do this for free. Does anyone have any resources, websites, or free e-books they could share with me? Thanks. :3

So I am starting to watch videos on self defense (thanks college for getting me back into it) and i was thinking that we could all help each other on here as well as preserve our memory of the techniques by posting up on here and asking questions on it. I am currently watching a video called "Bas Ruttens Legal Street Fighting" and I must say he is very effective with his techniques. Anyone want to give this a go with me? I have no sparring partner, so it would help me and you as well if you don't either.

Today I tried crossfit for the first time and I loved it. I'd like to start doing it regularly but I've heard that it is dangerous... Is that true? Should I keep my gym routine if I start with crossfit? thanks!

Hey everybody, My wife and I just got back from out first time with a personal trainer, we are looking to get fit. When we mentioned that we were Vegan and ate Tofu. He was very against tofu saying that it is not good for men and can mess up one's thyroid and that it is mostly made of Genetically Modified Soybeans. I know I have read an article in Veg News about this. I know it is best to have a varied diet, but I don't want our personal trainer to have a bad opinion of Tofu, I like him as a trainer. Any ideas on what I should tell him or articles I could send him. Thanks, Tom Scholfield http://www.AHealthyVegan.com

I recently got into eating 80/10/10 diet and i start to notice feeling hungry all the time, after researching for a while i realize why. Basically, fruits are low in fiber but high in water content, hence why your stomach feels full. However, fructose are easily digest, so when you eat tons of fruits, what happen is that it gets absorb and digested easily and you shit them all out within an hour. So how you do solve the hungry issues? Well, if you need energy, eat tons of fruits for quick boost of energy. However, if you want a more stable diet with less hunger, then simply eat more black beans. Black beans are complex carbohydrates and VERY high in fibers. Eatin…

Hi guys! My name is Lee I'm 25 years old from England and now living in Scotland. I've been vegetarian for just over a year now and vegan for about half that. I've been training in martial arts since I was 7, here's a video of me getting beat up for my 3rd Dan in freestyle karate; I was hoping to chat with you guys about training and how veganism has effected you both in regards to your martial arts practice and competition if you do compete, I understand it is not every martial artists goal to fight and I respect that. I eat a high fruit diet and I really love it, I joined here because there's such a wealth of free information on vegan body building, I can't wait t…

My Abs are awful. I've been this way since I lost all that weight. 80 pounds to be exact. Now all that's left is loose skin. I heard that to trim my abs in this condition to be lean and rock hard is slim to impossible and one option I have is plastic surgery. Although I would do it if I could afford it I can't afford it at the moment. Is there any other option or is plastic surgery my only option? What's people's views on the best/most reliable form of practical self-defence? Without having to train for 7+ years or having to spend thousands on learning. I've been doing boxing on/off for about 3-4 years, and since I became more serious about my health and general body fitness last year, I've got more into it. I've always been interested in learning a Martial Art but have been discouraged by people that have experience in Martial Arts who view it as impractical.. I have met some who view it as very practical, and I respect them for this. But like I said, I've never learnt any Martial Art just because I'm worried about not getting anything out of it. A friend of our…

I dont know if there is already a topic for this, I do not see one . in the previews I am glad to see, randy as a coach. surprised to see GSP. Only because I never really see him anywhere, so this will be great. Do these fighters even need coaching? or just a chance? I am confused as to what is the cut off point for contestants, as far as qualifying for the show. It seems that some of them have been successful there last outing , so that means the ability to work up the ladder on there own. Oh well, as with everyother TUF show I will be glued to the TV. I wonder if the format will be like the first two or like the third.

Basically I hit the weights and strength training on certain days, and practice Hung Gar on other days. For those of you who also practice martial arts, tell me how you incorporate these two types of training?

so it's that time again. another season of The Ultimate Fighter. you may have heard that this season's coaches are Forrest Griffin and Rampage Jackson. what i just heard is that the fighters will have to win a fight just to get on the show. 32 fighter on the first episode, they will pair up, and the 16 winners get to be on the show. sounds like an interesting idea. and this is the same night as Ultimate Fight Night 13, which is a pretty stacked card. -Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon -Karo Parisyan vs. Thiago Alves -Matt Hamill vs. Tim Boetsch -Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin -Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard -Kurt Pellegrino vs. Nate Diaz -Marcus Aurelio vs. Spencer Fi…

I know they haven't officially started but I have been watching the prelims. I saw USA mens basketball vs Great Britain (why are you England sometimes solo and sometimes Great Britain?). The USA team is amazing as expected. Deron Williams was playing exceptionally well. I watched some diving that was very impressive. Also saw the US womens qualifying 10,000 meters I think was the distance. That was a great race. The winner she definitely won mentally. After being passed by 4 people towards the end you could see her face change, tighten, complete determination and she not only passed them back for the lead but she won the race by a large margin. -Dylan
