Hey, I'm new here! After some cheeky help on diet plan.. Started Muay Thai (kickboxing) in April & have been going 5-6 times a week, with added running (3-7km) occasionally to help increase cardio. I'm about 6"2, my weight is fluctuating between 76 - 80kgs at the moment.. My training looks like this at the moment; m morning 60min (incl. 6km run (which takes about 25 minutes) then bag work). night 60min (partnered pad drills) t night training for 60 min - cadio & sparring w night training 60 min light cadio / partner pad work & bag work t night training 60 min cardio / partner pad work & bag work + some endurance f day off (occasionally run in the …

Has anyone on this board competed in a 5k pump and run? This past winter I competed in my third one and benched my bodyweight 14 times (I only weigh 145 lbs) and ran a 5k in 21 minutes. I will be competing in a 5k pump and run at the arnold classic in about 7 months and would like to get my 5k time down to 18 minutes (I used to run a sub 16 minute 5k in college) and bench my bodyweight 20 times. I should also note I am currently trying to bulk up over the next four months and put on 15 - 25 lbs. Does anyone have any tips on how to improve my bench press for an event like this? Last year the first 50 finishers were able to bench their bodyweight 30 times.

thinking about investing in one for this winter I've always enjoyed that the best for my cardio because I can ead/play video games while I work out. I also enjoy tracking how many KM I put in over certain time periods any suggestions? are there models to avoid?

Hello All, so I need some input on my workout schedule. I am trying to lose about 20lbs of bodyfat and I have been working out 4-5x a week and have yet to lose a single LB. In fact, I have probably gained a pound or 2 (I don't trust the gym scale b/c it is all wobbly). My diet is pretty clean, I am going to start limiting the higher GI fruits though... I know that in the past my weight loss efforts have been most successful w/ a low carb diet. I am doing quite a bit more strength training than I have ever done in the past so I am hoping that this accounts for my lack of weight loss... I definitely feel stronger and can feel a difference in my body... but I guess I am j…

i have been hesitating to post this because i didn't want to post a rumor, but it looks now like it is pretty much set now. Affliction Clothing Company has put together their first MMA event to be on PPV. it is going to be called BANNED and will be held July 19 2008 in Anaheim, California. and they have put together a pretty good card. * Fedor Emelianenko vs Tim Sylvia * Josh Barnett vs Pedro Rizzo * Ben Rothwell vs Andre "The Pit Bull" Arlovski * Aleksander Emelianenko vs Paul Buentello * Matt Lindland vs Fabio Negao * Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs Mike Whitehead a couple things still bother me. one, how did they get Aleksander Emilianenko on the card? i had heard he …

Just wondering if anyone here has a sponsor. It is something I was thinking about looking into, but it would be hard because I do a team sport.

Ok, I have a few questions related to exercise. I guess those of you who know about human anatomy/physiology(?) will be able to answer them: the first one is about fat loss: why do I always loose weight in my face/boobs before my ass?! and why is it so hard to loose the fat in my lower half? is this just a genetic thing? it is really annoying. Is there anything I can do to lose weight more evenly, or are these just the cards I was dealt? the second one has to do w/ abdominal muscles: I had an emergency c-section w/ my first child... someone told me that they probably cut through muscles in my stomach?? and I KNOW that they pulled my abdominal wall apart to get to my u…

Anyone here see WEC 38? Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone and Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver 2. Was a great show - only one fight made it past the first round. I always enjoy WEC because it's mostly guys around my weight - 135- and 145ers. Plus, Miguel Torres.

The extent to which I know yoga is from my wii fit (please don't flame me!). I was wondering what other poses are out there for me to practice with. Personally I like the Dance pose, Cobra pose and (not sure if this is yoga) Spinal Twists. I seem to have trouble with the Tree pose - not holding it, but holding it correctly. What poses do you enjoy doing?

I keep claiming to be the UK's only vegan mountain bike racer in the hope that someone will prove me wrong. I've got three friends who have done one race each and one of them competes in trailquests (mountain bike orienteering), but I'm the only vegan I know who is regularly racing in MTB marathons. There's a group of us from the UK South West/Midlands who meet up once a month for a ride and there's been talk of getting a vegan team together for a marathon or having a go at downhill racing, but it hasn't happened yet. So, is there anyone else here racing ? Anyone in the UK interested in meeting up for a social ride or joining a marathon team for a 12 or 24 hour race ?

"I don't need cardio." We've all heard it, and what it really means is that "I don't need cardio to look good." Maybe that's true, but a more important question is if you need cardio to be healthy... and the answer is yes! No matter who you are, you NEED cardio! Let me tell you why. Ah, cardio. That naggy, pesky little form of exercise... it's hard work and it makes you get all sweaty. And it takes so long to get so little! But we all need cardio, even the thinest among us. Autopsies have revealed that thin, in shape people who relied on diet alone to keep thin actually had rolls of fat hidden under their skin! Ew, right? While this didn't affect their appearance, you …

Below are a few selections of my mom's website milesforms.com. She was diagnosed in 2005 with multiple sclerosis. From then on she made it her duty to spread the awareness about reversing MS through diet. Dr. John McDougall is one of few doctors who promote this reversal. About Miles for MS Miles for MS is a campaign to raise awareness and money for the McDougall Research and Education Foundation. Why the McDougall Research & Education Foundation? Dr. McDougall has been studying, writing and "speaking out" about the effects of nutrition on disease for over 30 years and has been changing the lives of people who are suffering from chronic and degenerative diseases…

Hey y'all. I've been throwing around the idea that I should become a certified personal trainer. I'm currently studying Environmental Biology at UC Berkeley and had to recently leave my job. I love, love, love going to the gym and although my area of study isn't Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, etc., it is still a form of biology. In my resistance training classes, I sometimes get approached by other students for advice and by the teacher to illustrate proper form. In my gym I have even been pointed out by CPT's while they were training their clients for what good form looks like. Is personal training something that can be done part time or is it a career you need to dev…
