I've put on about 5-7lbs since I had to stop working out (about mid-April) due to 5-6 dislocated ribs, which are also causing problems with my cervical and lumbar spines. I've never been able to manage my weight with diet, as I always relied on exercise. When I exercise, I can lose up to 1lb per day (and that's after the initial "water weight" stage...not to mention I drink a ton of water). Anyway, I don't like this gain. I feel bloated, one pair of pants is starting to fit tighter, etc.. I never liked the idea of managing weight with diet alone because it leaves a person with a flabbier body as an exercise-free body has no reason to keep the muscle mass on there. Dumb …

I just purchased this DVD and i was wondering if anyone knows anything about it and if it's any good? i put it on just to see what it's like and as yet i haven't done the workout. it looks ok from what i've seen. i guess i'm just wondering if this is the best thing to do for a novice like me. it has three stages; beginner, intermediate and advanced. any advice would be appreciated.

3hours in the mountains around adelaide. lance was more interested in my bamboo bike than what i eat. his assistant, elizabeth was on a motor bike following and taking shots. she called me back and asked me about what i eat. she told me lance has a close friend that is a vegan athlete. she almost fell off the back of the motorbike when i said 'actually im a raw vegan. 100% raw plant foods. NO COOKED FOOD EVER!, i get my carbs from fruit.' she was like' but you ride so fast! thats insane!' then we hit a 7km climb and i attacked off the front. i was going too fast for lance and the team, cos they just let me go. i guess the guys are saving their legs for the real race th…

Hello everybody! I'm 5'4" approx 147-150lbs - trying to lose some fat/weight. I'm also training for some half marathons. That being said, I'm going to start counting my calories approximately 1400-1600 daily with 50% carb and 25% fat and 25% protein. This is the training program I came up with. I MUST have 2 medium running days during the week and 1 long run on the weekends (at least 10 miles or more). I'm also trying to increase my speed by losing weight & HIIT. I only have time to workout 1x per day in the evenings after work. Sunday: 30-60mins cross-training & upper body lifting Monday: 5-6 miles Tuesday: HIIT & lower body lifting Wednesday: 4…

Now that WEC and Sengoku have their own threads, I thought I'd start a proper one for Dream. I know Dream 7 was pretty lame. If it wasn't for the Hello Japan incident it would have been really dull. But Dream 8 looks more promising. Shinya Aoki is promising to usher in a new era of Japanese MMA on Sunday. Big words, I hope he can live up to them! I'm sure FEG is hoping the same after their last event.

I have good solid muscle in my stomach and thighs - but it's hiding! I feel like my body is possible playing it safe, thinking it should keep it in the case of another pregnancy. But - i need to convince it otherwise! What can i do to dissolve the fatty tissue that covers the good stuff i KNOW is there??? ** i don't want to build up right now** ok - ready, set, go!! give it to me!

Before having my daughter (second child) I was beginning to train in hopes of maybe doing some women's physique competitions. I hadn't done much research about it and after going to an actual competition I decided that wasn't exactly what I wanted to aspire to. Big ups to women who do it - just not for me. My husband trains in MMA and I've had people tell me over the years (even before UFC started getting so big) that I should consider getting into it - but I always shrugged it off. Recently I decided it's really something I want to pursue. I have very recently taken up boxing. I have been told by my husband (who isn't the biggest compliment giver usually) that I'm …

And found out the 175 mile fundraiser was supporting animal experimentation. I had to drop out. While i still and training as if i was riding i am a bit bummed right now as i had wanted to feel like part of that group dynamic and sense of accomplishment. Also not really thinking about it i posted a donation request for this ride to the local bike listserv and when i went to retract it i said, im sorry i cant do this for a group of animal torturers and got flamed for it. Oh well thats the way the cookie crumbles.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any equipment (especially clothing) that is not produced in terrible conditions? I buy my clothing from discount stores so as not to spend upwards of $20 USD on a simple shirt that wicks. I'm really tried of looking at clothing and seeing that it was producing in Vietnam or Thailand and then seeing that it costs over $20. I'm also looking for good vegan running shoes if anyone knows any. I have some vegan New Balances but was wondering if anyone knew anything else. Thanks!

Went to see the doctor yesterday, and he analyzed how well I could move my arm and when it hurts, etc. Figured I have rotator cuff tendonitis. He gave me some stretches to do. He said I want to avoid lifting things over my head which go back some. A lot of the overhead movements cause some pain such as overhead press, seated dumbell press, and even incline bench the other day left me feeling it bad later. I think i'm going to have to avoid using the muscle group for a while, is that about right? What would you all do/ or have done in this case?
