Just discovered Parkour a couple weeks ago, looks interesting and fun. Does anyone know a lot about it and had success with it? There is a Parkour centre down the road from me in Vancouver, going to give it a go this weekend I think

So I haven't came here much recently I've been real busy trying to finish my first year of university. But im free now. I thought I would take this oppertunity to talk about my new "goal". Basically. I finish university in the summer of 2010, so my plan, is to start training now, and then when I finish university, to cycle around the world. I'm not attempting to break any world records or do anything special, except promote the word vegan, and hopefully make the whole "vegan thing" more acceptable, if it makes even 1 person think differently then its worth a cycle right? I have no experience at doing this type of thing, not do I have any sponsorship or even a great bike. …

Thought this site could use a world cup thread. Sure there are some fans here since its such an international group! 1. List the teams you are cheering for. 2. Do you know of any world cup players that are vegan? 3. Who do you think will win it? For me 1. Ivory Coast and Bosnia. 2. I am about to do some googling! 3. Brazil they do home field advantage like no one else!

Thoughts on the bigorexia complex. I hope you all are into lifting for the health benefits and not just because TV and magazine are telling us we need to be huge. http://time.com/2865172/bigorexia-and-the-male-quest-for-more-muscle/

Hi all, Last Friday, I encountered two stray dogs fighting and they ended up nearly on top of some children. I pulled the dogs away from the kids, but managed to get bit in the bicep really bad. They actually had to stitched the muscle together. I was told it was 80% torn. I am actually surprised at how little pain there has been. My arm is tender, and I could not lift more than maybe a pound the day after it happened, but I can lift about 5 pounds now. I was told to rest it and take predisone. I did some research on this and found predisone is not good at all, and exercising will increase rate of healing. I have been stretching and working the muscle sinc…

Hi guys! My name is Lee I'm 25 years old from England and now living in Scotland. I've been vegetarian for just over a year now and vegan for about half that. I've been training in martial arts since I was 7, here's a video of me getting beat up for my 3rd Dan in freestyle karate; I was hoping to chat with you guys about training and how veganism has effected you both in regards to your martial arts practice and competition if you do compete, I understand it is not every martial artists goal to fight and I respect that. I eat a high fruit diet and I really love it, I joined here because there's such a wealth of free information on vegan body building, I can't wait t…

Just erased the original post as I thought this subject was probably better left between me and my GP, as Cappy and C.O. advised - so as not to lead anyone else up the path of enquiring about something potentially medical on here. I honestly didn't realise when I posted it, that it may have been more than just a gym thing. If any mods feel they'd like to delete it that's fine. Sorry.

Post pictures of your bikes, achievements you've made cycling and general chit chat regarding cycling related sports. I know there's a fair few keen bikers on the site so thought it would be nice to start a thread.

Anyone else do insanity? This is my second time doing it (third round), but the first time I had to modify a lot because of a health issue and didn't get the full benefit. I just started month two and it is excellent. It is the ONLY thing that has ever gotten my belly fat to go down. Since I started I haven't lost any weight, but if I took a photo everyday, I bet it would look like my belly is melting into my legs. Belly fat going away slowly, and my legs are much larger. My performance and endurance is better than at anytime in my life. I have nearly doubled my vertical jump the speed of doing pushups. I wouldn't say I have much fast twitch muscle fiber, b…

Greetings everyone, i've recently been roped into some off season sport, i had planned to bulk for the entire off season anyway, it's a much less serious competition, within the club, but i wanted to get in shape, as i've been rather sedentary cardio-wise since the season ended so yeah, i'm hoping to improve my stamina, and recovery somewhat without effecting my bulking any ideas? i know that cardio effecting gains is a little bit of a misconception, but yeah, any ideas? i was thinking of just doing sprints for 30 mins- an hour every day on my days out of the gym, i don't really like jogging/running that much, but i don't mind the higher intensity stuff like spri…

Hi! I used to post on this board ages ago under a different handle, but it was so long ago that I forgot what it was, so I made this one. Beyond that, since sustaining a lot of severe injuries and making many major lifestyle changes, my goals are a lot different from what they used to be anyway. It would be great if someone could give me some advice about cycling with a severe injury. In 2010, I got hit by a car while cycling. The car snapped my leg in half. Owing to sequelae from an intramedullary rod implantation to "fix" my tibia, many nerves in my left leg are destroyed, and there are lots of extensive scars and weak spots on this leg. I later had the rod removed…

100 Yoga Poses Video # 1 100 Yoga Poses Video # 2 I went vegan 5 years ago and shortly after that I decided to give yoga a try. I had no prior experience with yoga and was not a very flexible person at all. I just wanted to share my progress with everyone here and hope that it will inspire you to give yoga a try as well.

... your gym closes and clears out over night without prior warning! FUN! So now I'm looking around for a new gym now so I can keep up my weights and general fitness. It's ashame as the gym I was with was quiet enough when I went for me to just get on with what I wanted to do without being in anyones way and it had a mass of functional equipment as opposed to weight machines which just seems to be the norm around here. Looking round a brand new council run gym tonight though on a recommendation from a fried so i guess we'll see what they have there. It's just to bloody frustrating as I was realy getting into my routine again after the forced xmas break!

I recently returned from a business trip to Honduras where I saw Brazillian Judo fighters perform in the city of Valle. It really inspired me to study a martial art since I grew up in an area with a lot of school and street fighting and never really mentally recovered from my lost fights since my self-defense techniques were poor. After I got home, I went on a kung fu movie binge and watched Bruce Lee and Donnie Yen films like Ip Man, which got me really interested in Wing Chun. Which art should I study? When I was younger I was taught Tae Kwon Do, but I disliked the kick-heavy emphasis in the art. I've been looking at Judo, Aikido, and Wing Chun, although someone told …

This is a short video of world renowned realistic martial arts instructor Geoff Thompson, i've been a fan of his since the early 90s. Despite training in different martial arts for a number of years, i always found that most systems do not prepare us for the real ugly side of self protection, aka the pavement arena. In this video Geoff talks about the ugly side and realistic application of the martial arts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQbHgD65_8E

Hi, all! I recently took action and started eating vegan, although my ethics have always lined up with not causing suffering... So far, it's been a week, and I feel great! I fight Muay Thai and really am looking to lose weight while eating vegan. I was wondering how to go about this and how much I should eat? I'm 21, 5'2", and currently 128 pounds but want to go down to 112 in order to fight in a lower weight class. (Please don't start telling me how this is "unhealthy", 112 is a healthy weight for someone my height). If you compete or train vigorously, please let me know how veganism has affected your training! Also, in the wintertime, I always seem to gain weight. …

I'm getting older and seem to encounter more minor injuries than I used to. Either that or else I didnt notice or care as much before because I would heal extremely fast. My most recent slow to heal, still recovering injury is my hand. I fell playing basketball and landed stomach first, catching my self with both hands palms down. My left hand was swollen later that night and now 2 weeks later it is still bothering me. My PT gf checked it out and said there doesnt seem to be anything broken or nerve damage related. I just started a new job where I am using the computer a lot and I think that is also not giving my hand proper rest. Anyone had a similar injury? Any …
