Anyone following wimbledon ? The guys isnt super exciting so far, especially since my boy bagdatis just got knocked out. BUT the ladies bracket is epic! Top seeds are getting dropped left and right. Both of the Williams sisters are still in it ( Serena ranked 6th and Venus ranked 8th I think). Watch out for the girl from China who took out Ana, and the polish lady is on a rampage, Go Poland! It would be nice to see one of the Williams sisters take it though.

Is anyone planning on watching any specific events in the Winter Olympics? I totally forgot they were happening this year I just heard yesterday there was an opening ceremony. I guess that shows how much I stay away from mainstream media. Not that its a good thing, I just totally didn't know about the Olympics going on until yesterday listening to the radio at work. Any favorite sports, events or athletes you are looking forward to watching? -Rob

Is anyone into winter sports? I snowshoe, XC ski (Nordic back country), downhill (alpine ski), snowboard, and skin (AT ski). I just got into skinning recently, and I have the hardest time staying warm on the way down. I find my body temp drops very quickly when my activity level decreases. I have to bring an extra shirt or two, extra jacket, glove liners, socks, and ski pants in a back pack on the way up, otherwise I end up shivering pretty bad on the way down. I generally have a hard time staying warm in winter. Fingers and toes especially as I probably have Raynauld's. Anyone else have these problem? Any suggestions?

Where I live it get's really cold (Winter here atm). I chop wood every day and enjoy it. I find it to be a good workout, too. Have you ever chopped wood, do you do it regularly? If so, is it an exercise thing, or you do just do it because you need it to keep the house warm? I'm also curious, would you consider this an aerobic exercise, anaerobic or a bit of both? Any input is good.

Anyone else work extra fitness in throughout the day? Like parking as far as possible from the entrance and sprinting to the door? One thing I've been doing lately is exercising at work. I work in retail and I work alone, so after I deal with a customer or customers, I go to the back room and do push-ups and steam engines (an upright ab workout). I do a set amount per customer, so if I have to deal with three customers in a row before I get to go to the back room, I do 3 sets of the routine. I started doing it for package delivery, returns, and "quick questions," too, so it's not like, "Oh, well, he wasn't a 'customer' because he didn't buy anything, so that doesn't co…

Since working out (to lose weight and for general fitness, but mainly to lose 10 kilos) I find myself needing to eat alot all day. At the beginning I was trying to stay under 1500 calories but it was really killing me and I'd end up binge eating after dinner because my body would be screaming. Now I've been having about 5 portions a day, coming up to maybe around 1800 calories and I feel better. I do mainly circuit training workout videos (some are half an hour long, some are an hour) every day. Can I still lose weight like this? I feel like I couldn't eat any less I'm female, 23, 5 ft 7.

World championship Gold goes to humble Indian Veg Wrestler: http://www.outlookindia.com/images/photoessays/sushil_kumar_20080922.jpg http://blog.petadishoom.com/Sushil%20Kumar.JPG Given that India is probably the worst country when it comes to support Sports Talent, absolute lack of training and funds.. unless you are a highly marketed CRICKET player. Other than that.. Indian sports... suffer.. I started the Insanity workout today. The fit test...wow, guess I wasn't as "fit" as I thought I was. I had been doing cardio warmup before weightlifting, and also running a couple times per week...but... I found the fit test to be more strenuous than I am used to, at this point anyway. Maybe 10 years ago, I was doing a lot of cardio/endurance & I know I could have performed better at that time. I had to stop a few times throughout the vid., especially on those "squat jump" movements and other big explosive movements like that. After the fit test, I did legs, so I am basically spent at this point. I am going to attempt to keep up a BB regimen while doing the…

surfing thru the channels i ran a new pro wrestling show, on MTV?! yeah i know, but it was actually pretty good. they had a few veterans you may have heard of, and i was glad to see them back in action. there was Vampiro, X-Pac (now know as 6-pack), Justin Credible, and New Jack. and the new guys were real good also. lots of high flying and acrobatic action. also lots of the good old tables, ladders, and thumbtacks! check out a clip here.

My sifu said for all the yang activity I do, I need to eat yang foods. Usually that is associated with meat. Obviously unacceptable. Which veggies or fruit have more yang? I'm guessing kale, since it's strong and grows in the sun. Chili for sure, because it's spicy. Others? I practice choy li fut kung fu, which has an internal qi moving aspect to it. Hence the need to balance the yin and yang in all things.

I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago, and still can't run. I've decided to get back into yoga (done in a heated room). Curious if anyone else here does yoga...if so, what style, and have you noticed any specific changes to you body? For me, I use to do a lot of distance events (ironmans, distance running..etc) and found that yoga build up an incredible amount of strength that I would actually retain even when doing lots of cardio (when I hit the weights, I would tend to lose most of my gains when I increased the cardio training). I also noticed some major improvement in posture and joint flexibility and strength.

Alright this might seem like a stupid question for some but I need to get some info. Is yoga contradictory to weight training? Back when I was a non-vegan builder, I was pretty big but when I tried to doing yoga it was extremely hard. Now I've been doing yoga consistently for a few months and I'm starting to do vegan body building. Will one limit the gains of the other? Thanks for help, info, or advice.

Hey, all you Yogis , I've read there are specific exercises for certain things: What are the best for enhancing digestion? I'm not having any problems with it, myself (though a couple friends I've gotten into eating more raw say they are having issues), but I do notice that after a meal, I, not only feel the need to stretch, but also feel much better after I do. I don't go onto the floor or anything; I just stretch up high and pull my arms, do side bends and hold, etc. Feels good. So I'm wondering if there are specifics? Thanks.

I started reading about yoga in elementary school and have remained interested since then. Although I usually keep my mouth shut, I feel a little sick every time I hear people treating yoga as excercise, or talking about new LA style of Hatha yoga. I don't have any problem with people using Hatha yoga for physical benefit, but I feel like the people on this forum are probably more openminded than most people, so I'd liekt o share my understanding of yoga. Yoga is a sanksrit word meaning "yoke" (like oxen on a plow) or union. Yoga is not an activity you do, it is a way of life. It is a method of spritual growth for the sole purpose of unifying your individual soul wi…
