All, I am curious about how many vegans are involved in the shooting sports, either professionally/competitively, recreationally and/or as practice for shootings defensive applications. As many of you probably know, shooting for recreation and competition is done in most if not all countries, and is included in the Olympics. And of course, I do not consider hunting as a sport. Hopefully there are not very many vegan hunters! Personally, I am into firearms and shooting primarily for defensive applications. However, I am also interested in getting into recreational and competitive shooting, esp. IDPA and similar practical/tactical styles. So who else here shoots…

Hi there, I have a question for you all. I'm going to start working at a stockroom and my job will require heavy physical labour for about 8-12 hours a day, 5 days a week. So my question is: what food/drinks do you people recommend to keep me going during the day? I'm not a bodybuilder but I am vegan for about 3 years now. Thanks in advance

I've noticed that the days when I don't go to the gym, I end up having a difficult time falling asleep. Is this normal, good, or bad?

Are there any soccer players out there who want to discuss training programs and nutrition programs? Or just chat about soccer? I played for 10 years, Topher played for 10 years and I think Big Ben played for 10 years or longer. Funny how we all chose bodybuilding after soccer I met a raw food vegan soccer player today and invited him to join the forum. Maybe he'll see this and post and chat about the world's greatest game with us! -Robert

Is anyone into winter sports? I snowshoe, XC ski (Nordic back country), downhill (alpine ski), snowboard, and skin (AT ski). I just got into skinning recently, and I have the hardest time staying warm on the way down. I find my body temp drops very quickly when my activity level decreases. I have to bring an extra shirt or two, extra jacket, glove liners, socks, and ski pants in a back pack on the way up, otherwise I end up shivering pretty bad on the way down. I generally have a hard time staying warm in winter. Fingers and toes especially as I probably have Raynauld's. Anyone else have these problem? Any suggestions?

I'm interested in hearing any experience in improving hip mobility. Specifically, I'm preparing to attend a 10 day meditation retreat in a few months and I'd like to be able to sit comfortably in cross legged positions for ~30 minutes at a time. Any advice or experience is appreciated. Thanks!

The latest video on my channel. I know a lot of people that either have pain or posture problems from not doing the necessary corrective work for a rider, so I was inspired to make this video. Let me know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDHM62xbvMw

decided to make a new thread to discuss Strikeforce events, like the one that happened last nite. there was a HUGE upset in Brett Rogers defeating Andrei Arlovski. you may remember Brett Rogers as when Elite was still on CBS. well now he just proved he could back that up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9d1KfX3nIs also a good main event in Robbie Lawler vs Jake Shields. Shields usually fights at welterweight, moves up in weight to fight the the #4 ranked Middleweight "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. it was a fight he was not expected to win. in this clip you can hear the announcers talking smack about Jake Shields and BJJ. then Shields sinks in a guillotine choke, haha…

Wasnt sure best forum for this so I went with first instinct. Before I started paying close attention to my health, I recall a past flat mate making his own drinks with electolytes in it. I cant remember what he used but will hit him up when I see him. Does anyone else make them? I would be keen to try a few of all your ideas!!!

Don't laugh but I'm still really hesitant to give up my toe cages in favor of clip-ins. I have some long rides coming up, though, and want to increase my efficiency. What are your favorite (non-leather, of course) cycling shoes and pedals?

Just discovered Parkour a couple weeks ago, looks interesting and fun. Does anyone know a lot about it and had success with it? There is a Parkour centre down the road from me in Vancouver, going to give it a go this weekend I think

Fwd to 31 seconds in to skip the cartoon if you are sensitive to cursing. Geoff is an amazing skater, and just happens to be vegan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnbEdLFUepU

I've been on a quest to lose body fat recently, and I've been having really limited luck! I've created lots of muscle and reached a good level of fitness with my workout plan (running 1 hour 5-6x/week, pilates 3x per week, and daily calisthenics) and diet plan (1300-1500 calories per day). But my actual weight number has me darn near obese (I know BMI is a crummy measure but I still want my weight down.) How can I effectively reduce my weight without sacrificing any muscle mass? Any help appreciated! Female, 5'8", 180 lbs. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I was just wondering how many different kinds of shoes people usually have for different activities. I was using my runners (New Balance) for working out in our home gym (weights and elliptical, no treadmill), but I figured that probably wasn't good for me since that's not what they're made for, plus they are my outside shoes anyway. I went out yesterday and bought some Asics crosstrainers that are supposed to have really good stability and support, and I'll use those in the gym now. I also got a pair of Saucony crosstrainers for all the walking I do during my normal day. Does that sound normal? How do you guys handle your shoe situations?

If you don't know of planet fitness, its popping up all over the country. If it is new or coming to your area you should check it out. One just opened in my neighborhood in Brooklyn and its only $1 to join, $10 per month, and no annual fees right now as a special offer. My current membership at a local spot ends in a week so I am planning on checking these guys out. Just thought I'd pass on the info: http://www.planetfitness.com -Dylan

I'm really surprised that there is not more discussion about aikido on this site. It's philosophy is pretty complimentary to the vegan life style...as a matter of fact it was vegans that first introduced me to the art- long before I was vegan. I'm not doggin' any other art, I just find it strange...any body here a practioner?

So I have heard both yes and no to this question. Is swimming laps good for weight loss? In other words, if I'm at the gym and want to get some cardio in, is it just as effective as treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical etc?
