sorry for the long post!! I am vegan as of a month ago. I am doing well with it as I feel much better allowing myself to eat carbs rather than suffering headaches and constant fatigue of eating meat and a small amount of vegetables. I am trying to follow a fruitarian lifestyle as much as possible, eating lots of fruit, but also eating rice, raw and steamed vegetables and a few yams. I lost about 40 pounds 2 years ago from extreme dieting and doing beachbody insanity. Unfortunately since then, I have gained most of that fat back, but fortunately gained a bit of muscle through constantly working out at least 1 hour 5 -6 days a week, and sometimes pushing it to 2 hours…

Sorry guys, I haven't been on this board for well over a year. Life got in the way of training, etc... Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with football training? (American football that is) I'm asking for my son. He's been playing football since 5th grade, and he's a great player on both sides of the ball. So now he's in High School, sophomore year, and he's seriously the smallest guy suited up. So, his talent gets overlooked by the simple fact that his 120 lbs is always outmatched by an opposing player of 190 + lbs. I'm sure this wont come as a shock to anyone here, but he's also the only vegan on his team. And it's difficult to find anyone in th…

I wasn't sure where to put this so here goes....does anyone have experience of using heart rate monitors for fat loss? I've been learning about fat burning training zones for cardio and i am wondering if its worth me buying a heart rate monitor. Currently doing a program of weights and cardio (brisk walking). I've been told to stick close to 130bpm but have no idea if i am close to that when i do my cardio (brisk walking). So I guess what I'm asking is 1. Is brisk walking good for fat loss (over jogging/running)? and 2. Is a heart rate monitor worth the investment? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I was hoping I could get some feedback from you. I haven't been physically active for a long time. I tried committing to an exercise routine at the beginning of the year, but it fizzled out and I gave up. But like I said in my introductory post, I've gotten to a place where I have to get my physical health completely handled. My ultimate goal is to going into body sculpting. I'm not interested in competition or anything, it's a matter of the personal satisfaction of accomplishing a goal. AND the health benefits. That's priority number one. Nurtition wise I'm taking care of business, but since I'm starting fresh I wanted to know how best to get started. My m…

Hey all, I'm hoping to get a little advice on this. I could very well just be over thinking it and should relax but I need to put my mind at ease. Right now I'm 5'6, 140lbs with roughly 12% body fat. From January to March I lost 25 lbs thanks to eating well and marathon training. I'm attempting to cut down to 10% or lower but I'm afraid of losing too much lean mass or, even worse, all lean mass instead of fat. Right now I'm running at 1500 cals a day with 45mins of cardio 4x a week and weight training 3x a week. My question is: Do you think I should stick to this and be patient or should I drop/raise cals? Thanks!

Anyone part of No Meat Athlete? They primarily focus on endurance sports but have great info for all athletic interests on a plant-based diet: http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/nomeatathlete Check out some of these resources. I contributed to one of their e-books, which was fun and I'm happy to be part of it.

Roger Clemens is back playing pro ball, but minor leagues. How cool is that for minor league baseball fans? I'm definitely going to a game if he plays in ny. I'm not even a big baseball fan but Clemens was a huge deal when I was growing up. I know they haven't officially started but I have been watching the prelims. I saw USA mens basketball vs Great Britain (why are you England sometimes solo and sometimes Great Britain?). The USA team is amazing as expected. Deron Williams was playing exceptionally well. I watched some diving that was very impressive. Also saw the US womens qualifying 10,000 meters I think was the distance. That was a great race. The winner she definitely won mentally. After being passed by 4 people towards the end you could see her face change, tighten, complete determination and she not only passed them back for the lead but she won the race by a large margin. -Dylan

It finally happened. After years of heavy iron I have an injury that prohibits me from lifting serious iron. By serious I mean any. So I asked my therapist what I could do. It turns out I can bike. I can run. I can swim. Since I can't compete as a bodybuilder and all I can do is the sort of stuff triathletes do, I decided to start training for a full length triathalon. So I am shopping for advice. Thanks in advance.

Where I live it get's really cold (Winter here atm). I chop wood every day and enjoy it. I find it to be a good workout, too. Have you ever chopped wood, do you do it regularly? If so, is it an exercise thing, or you do just do it because you need it to keep the house warm? I'm also curious, would you consider this an aerobic exercise, anaerobic or a bit of both? Any input is good.

Hi Just wondered if there are any snowboarders here? If so what kind of kit have you got? What style of snowboarding are you doing? Any cool pics of you in action? Besides bodybuilding being a new sport to me, so is snowboarding which I am addicted to and adore...I will be going into my 4th season this Winter. I started on a standard board with soft boots and I am keen to learn alpine snowboarding...I have been doing this 2 months (end of last Winter)...It takes a lot of getting used to with totally different board (side cut etc) and using hardboots (like skiers' boots) but hey it is such good fun... Besides taking up bodybuilding due to some health issues that I…
