Hello all, I'm new here, so I hope I posted this in the correct forum I have a question about punching bag gloves: I've recently decided to get into boxing, so today I purchased a 30 kg punching bag. I was also looking for gloves to use while training, but all of the heavier gloves they had available in the store had a leather exterior. The only non-leather gloves they had where lighter, gel padded gloves. The man responsible for the boxing equipment in the store assured me these would be sufficient for a beginner, so I purchased these as well: http://www.domyos-fitness.com/EN/dc-aero-gloves-21193613/ The wrists are quite well protected, the tape at the bottom wra…

My girlfriend works for the ACLU (a canvasing job). This requires her to walk door to door and ask for donations. She says she wishes to get into better shape. I told her that regular strength training can help, but in regards to cardiovascular training I don't know what to tell her. I feel if I tell her the wrong thing she can either be too tired to work, and have symptoms of overtraining, or she will be doing too little, and end up gaining unwanted weight. Any ideas on what to do?

I've been working out consistently for six months and sometimes I feel like my progress isn't enough. I know my main antagonist is genetics.. I don't come from a very muscular family and I had to work up to bench pressing a 25 pound bar when I first started working out. I try to keep the mindset of just being the best I can be and not comparing myself to others.. but damn I wish I had kick ass arms. How long will it take me to get there? Does it generally take women a long time to get noticeably strong arms? Maybe my progression is also slow because I target my entire body rather than focusing on one area. This was my progress after four months: http://img190.imageshac…

Although I love some of the articles, and have learn a lot about Strength Training and what not, I got to say that this magazine (as well as many mainstream fitness related things) is very biased towards vegetarians/vegans. Especially when it comes to soy. Anyone else notice this?

http://www.examiner.com/fight-sports-in-national/ufc-heavyweight-star-to-train-with-strikeforce-legend-fedor-emelianenko Shane Carwin joining camp. Fedor to fight Big Foot. Wanted to see rematch with Verdum. But I guess Verdum is gong to fight Overeem now. I think this is the last fight for Fedor on his contract wth Strikeforce.

First of all I have never taken running seriously, I would only run back in high school 4 years ago but nothing serious. My aunt invited me to the 26 Mile Los Angeles Marathon, which is on the 26 of March (anyone else from here going?). I decided to take the challenge, because I have always wanted to be in one. I have more than 2 months to get myself prepare, if anyone could give me any tips, or point a finger at a direction on how to get started anything helps. I was also planning on starting P90X this Monday, would it be too much? I'm a 22 year old slim male, if that helps. Thanks in advance, hope to hear from all of you soon

Hey everyone, I am trying to build muscle so I have been working out regularly doing many different things. I want to work out today but I don't know what I should do because I did do intense squats, deadlifts, lunges, etc. yesterday. I try not to have a strict rest day... I would rather walk at least 5 miles, or bike, or run, or go to yoga. What do you think? I'm female, 5'6" and 119 pounds. My main goals are upper-body strength, but I am still trying to build my entire body. this was what I did all week: Saturday: 2 mile run, pull-ups, push-ups, Abs. Sunday: 3 mile power walk, 1 hour of stretching Monday: 1.5 hour yoga class, 2 mile run, Gym (arms and back) Tues…

Hi everyone, I am really interested in Yoga and would like to incorporate it into my weightlifting/sprinting regime. I am the kind of person who likes to train his body equally, so I would not neglect my legs over chest when weightlifting. I am looking to do the same thing with Yoga, train my body's flexibility equally all over the place, that is to say have X number of poses I can cycle through throughout the week that targets my body equally in the realm of flexibility like one does with weightlifting. And, I am looking to do this for free. Does anyone have any resources, websites, or free e-books they could share with me? Thanks. :3

I live in the Austin, TX area and i've just started a weekly exercise program. I have utilized a lot of different excercises to get my body fit including yoga which I have found really opens my muscles up and makes them easier to use to their full-extent. My point in mentioning this is that eventually I would like to be in top physical shape so that I can learn Muay Thai. I know that it is very physically demanding in all the muscle areas, and I wanted to know a few things from anyone that had any helpful info: 1. Are there excercises that will be more applicable to this goal, or excercises I can slowly integrate into my routine that will help me to be more capable …

I have been doing BJJ and MMA for a while now (I'm almost a blue belt in BJJ) and I'm looking at doing a 2 month trip to LA and possibly Vegas next year and wondered if anyone had any idea of who I should hit up for some quality BJJ instruction.

I heard from a friend of mine in high school that him and his friend practiced Ninjustu once in Mattapan. I was like "really?" Where would a person go if they wanted to learn ninjustu?

I have the Metabolic Syndrome (or am the Syndrome); heart disease; interstitial lung disease; chronic fatigue and fibro; spinal stenosis, etc. I am morbidly obese and am so very tired of the consummate e-mails about people's credentials. I am 49 years old and need to lose weight. Have tried low carb diets and just don't stick for me. I am unable to exercise much at all due to pain. Please float me some reading materials, books or plain old good advice regarding a plan for life that includes weight loss. Thanks for your time.

For those of you that follow Mac Danzig he is rumored to be fighting at UFC 124 in Quebec, Canada. His opponent is suppose to be Joe "Daddy" Stevenson. I will see if I can confirm this with Mac as we talk occasionally on twitter.

I thought this would be a neat idea, to list as many of the routines as you can think of. I will start off with a few. It will make for a quick reference for those of us who are looking for a program but are unsure of all that is out there. Also, add a description if it will require additional equipment to perform, i.e., resistance bands, weights, etc. Please feel free to add any/all you can think of. 1. Insanity 2. P90X - resistance bands, dumbbells, pull up bar 3. Doggcrapp training - Barbell/dumbbells

This guy is so awesome. He got he came back from 3 ko losses in a row and 1 of them was brutal at the hands of Albert Kraus in K-1 MAX Final 16 tournament in 2009. He went from the 3 straight ko loses to winning the 2010 Japan K-1 World max tournament defeating all his opponents by KO. Now he is also coming off another win and is the reserve fighter for this years K-1 MAX Tournament. And he is a Cosplayer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUyKWAMOBxE
