Im going to try my hardest to move up in May or June. Im going to finish college up there and hopefully live there the rest of my life (Oklahoma calls me sometimes. Damn I miss the Tornado Alley). Anyways. I have a few questions: Im a writer. Although I havent published anything yet, its a goal of mine. Is that true? Also. Has anyone gone to PSU before? Im looking into off campus apartment housing that the school provides. Are these good places? …

So the snow in England is crazy at the moment! I was snowed in on Monday, but still got in trouble at work for not going in! Some of work colleagues walked in... what a bunch of ass kissers lol The way I see it, we havnt had snow like this in maybe 10 years, why not just take advantage, stay at home, & be warm & cosy!

http://wweek.com/wwire/?p=16307 Sean Coryell, Nutshell's first chef. Photo by Amy Ouellette. Nutshell , Adam Berger's vegan-turned-vegetarian restaurant on North Williams Avenue, closed over the weekend. The news, first reported at Portland Food and Drink, will likely cause much cheer among Portland's militant vegans, a number of whom angrily called for a boycott of the restaurant to protest the continued presence of delicious foie gras on the menu at Berger's other restaurant, Ten-01 ...

Portland's first vegan Italian restaurant opens this month. Portobello Vegan Trattoria will offer vegan versions of classics like “Spaghetti & Meatball,” “Luh-zag-nuh,” and Tiramisu. Chef Aaron Adams initially will open for dinner on Saturday, December 6, then Saturday December 13. Regular hours will follow: Wednesday through Saturday, 5:30 pm to 10 pm. The location is in the same space as Cellar Door Coffee, 2001 SE 11th Ave., Portland. On a sad note, Kinta will close at the end of the month.

http://blog.oregonlive.com/extrahelpings/2009/01/a_lighter_fitter_mark_bittman.html I had lunch with Mark Bittman about an hour ago, and I'm hungry. So I can't imagine how he feels. After all, he barely ate when we met at Blossoming Lotus Cafe, a vegan restaurant chosen to match his new veggie-centric diet. He'll make up for it later, he says, at dinner, when he eats whatever he wants. Such are the daily contradictions of the guy who writes "The Minimalist" for the New York Times' food section. Vegan pizza at Blossoming Lotus Cafe had all the right stuff for a plant-centric diet. He's in Portland to promote ...

The Vegetarian Society Of Washington D.C. had their vegan Thanksgiving celebration covered on the local news yesterday. It is a very good piece and it is inspiring to see such good coverage. Wendy Reiger is the local newswoman in the clip. In the last few years she has become interested in animal issues and vegetarianism. She has given the local vegan and AR groups in the D.C. area a lot of support.

I'm not a big party person (big surprise) but I will have some friends visiting town and I'm looking for some options. I'm not even sure where to begin. Last year I was in L.A. and went to the Playboy Mansion (but didn't get let in...wasn't on the list) and hung out at some parties. Normally I'd probably just sit at home, which is what I've done in years past and would likely do this year but since I have new forum member friends in town and others visiting town, I thought I'd find out what is going on in PDX this week. Ya heard?
