Holy Jesus I just found out that there is a Vegan pizza shop in Lakewood Ohio. Its called Mama Mias on Madison, Phone number 216-226-4000 I am checking it out today, and they have "meatball" subs and all sorts of amazing sounding stuff. Also found a ice cream joint with vegan icecream sandwiches, going to check that out later in the week.

If you haven't already been tipped into this one, there's a really interesting Halloween/Artist Exhibit happening in the Village, best described in the following article: http://www.lifeinthefastlane.ca/banksy-sets-up-pet-shop-with-self-dipping-chicken-nuggets-and-swimming-fish-sticks/art Basically, the artist is combining animatronics with AR themes (from fur to cosmetic testing to the meat industry.) The exhibit's free, and the line's long (about 15 minutes...but definitely worthwhile.) Check it out...if you live in NYC, it's definitely worth the trip! (PS: the Village also just added a really decent VEGAN ICE CREAM JOINT called Lula's Apothecary: http://www.lu…

Hey folks. Exciting stuff coming up, we'll get right to it... Exciting stuff #1: Just got this news from PETA. We're feeling like this might be a good chance for an anti-Primate Center campaign to pick up some steam. There seems to be a lot of potential energy in Portland right now and we're hoping a lot of you folks can join us out there. People can also meet up here at the mini-mall at like 11:00 to do some ride-sharing if you'd like. "During a four month undercover investigation in 2007, a PETA investigator experienced firsthand the anguish that the animals at Oregon Health Sciences University's (OHSU) Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) endure every …

Heya Pdxers, I'm finding myself with a worsening tendency towards being a hermit & I want your help in fighting this! My schedule has finally opened up more with all of my kids in school & different work hours so now I need cool folks (that's YOU!) to hang out & do stuff with. My interests include: hiking, camping, urban wandering, hanging at coffee shops, traveling, watching movies, bicycling & working out (though I need help with these!) & I'm always open to trying new stuff too. Group activities can be great & I'm definitely up for hanging out one-to-one as well. Get in touch & let's talk details!

Potter sent me this: Hey Robert, I wanted to see if you could pass this along to the forum. This is what I posted on the Philly OrganicAthlete board: I went to my favorite Falafel place...Maoz Vegetarian...and one of the cooks said their falafel wasn't vegan(luckily I was wearing a vegan shirt) and nearly any falafel is not vegan because there is egg in the bread crumbs they use(they roll it in bread crumbs to coat the falafel). This is ridiculous. I'm gonna e-mail the company and say they should really put up a disclaimer...especially since its advertised as a vegetarian restaurant. I figure they'd expect a lot of their customer base to be vegan. They should either m…

Taste of Health time again - Sept. 26, 27 & 28 Croatian Cultural Centre It's the 10th anniversary of the TOH this year and there's a special gala on the Friday night. Howard Lyman is speaking, among others. Not sure if it's sold out yet, but if there are any lower mainland members interested, act fast! Suz and I are working it as the official photographers for Earthsave again this year. I met Robert at the TOH for the first time in 2006 and he got me to check out this forum. There seems to have been a lack of vegan athletes repped at the last TOH and this one maybe too. I think Brendan's even out of town for it. Should still be a lot of fun... Trev

Hey PDX, When do you want to do another meet-up? I will be leaving town on the 10th or 11th of September but I'm pretty open/flexible until then. I'm super busy in general, but by flexible, I mean I'm in Oregon, rather than somewhere else. What should we do? Food? Training? Trip? Hang out? Movie? etc.? Thanks! Who's up for doing something soon? Ideas?
