What are you all's thoughts on this program? I'm finishing up my third week of my first cycle, and I really like it so far. Anyone have good results running this?

This is something I really need advice on. When you say, "Home gym" most people think of... small, spring-and-pulley systems, promoted on bad TV commercials from the 1990s. What if you want to get set up to really do powerlifting exercises at home? I have the space, and the budget doesn't matter much, because of the time and money I would save in contrast to gym fees. However... It is hard to overcome concerns about putting a hole in the floor (or, indeed, a hole in the ceiling). Has anyone else dealt with this? I realize that it is something that must have its own sub-culture, websites, or youtube channels associated with it --but I haven't seen anything of t…

firstly I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place, I wasn't really sure of the best place. I am really hoping I can get some help and support from people in the know, especially as I tried signing up to another bodybuilding forum and got spoken to awfully, belittled, judged and called stupid just because I am a beginner with limited knowledge and understanding, Not to mention being told I need to eat meat fish and dairy because vegan bodybuilders are fake. So I'm really hoping I will find a more understanding home here. So my name is lexie. I'm 26 from the uk, After seeing numerous pictures of women lifting heavy weight I got inspired to get in to power lifti…

This is my buddy Ahmad. Huge into power lifting, he lives and breathes the sport. He's just starting his own YouTube channel; This and his failed squat video are my favorite. They're so funny. He's on the Candito training program right now, and for every pound his PR's goes up by, he's donating 1$. (Bench PR 2$ per pound) There's a video on his setup. One of the most down to earth, honest and humblest guys I've ever met. Very intuitive, can back up anything he does. look at his dead lifts.. just wow. And after watching some of his videos you'll know what I mean. He'll go vegan one day;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7y0wrUIP-4

Just curious really if anyone has had any experience with this, I managed to keep gaining strength whilst cutting body fat last summer and plan on doing so again as of next month. Anyone got tips? Or just have their own way of doing this?

Saw this article back in the archives on T-Nation here By the way, Dave Tate's a bit profane (and the beginning of the video warns of such), so keep that in mind before you crank the volume all the way up.

I am having some trouble with my form on the dead lift. Should this be more of a leg or a back movement? From what I can gather, the type of dead lift that i was taught is the Romanian Dead Lift. I feel like I use my back more and I can only do about 200 lbs before it really starts to tweak my back. Should you squat more for a dead lift? Any videos or illustrations would help me a lot! Thanks!

So I didn't realise how much people argued over this topic, I assumed from the fact that 5x5 one of the most popular strength training programmes around that this wasn't even an issue. In fact I plan on doing squats and deadlifts in the same day once I've got all my powerlifting gear to my new house, so anyway, what's your opinion on this subject?

Hey all, I know this isn't strictly powerlifting and more towards olympic lifting, but I figured out of all the forums this would be the best place to post. I'm working towards proficiency in the olympic lifts and one of the steps I'm taking is to try to get super comfortable with my overhead squat. It's improving, and I'm getting more comfortable with the bar path and engaging my lats to pull the bar back and apart, but I'm having a lot of difficulty hitting depth. I can hit parallel, but this is obviously less than ideal as a position to catch a snatch. I don't think that general mobility is a problem, because I get ass to grass with barbell squats and pistol squats, bu…

Eric reputedly opened up with a 'light' squat of around 930 as he wanted 1,000lb for his second lift (he smashed 1,003lb)

Hey ya'll, I haven't been on here in a while, but I definitely should be here more. I've been super busy in the past year, started teaching and going to grad school full time, living off a stipend. Anyway, I've entered USAPL Raw Nationals! Thing is, it's in Colorado, I'm in Maryland... yea. Flight + Hotel = $$$ If you could send a couple bucks my way that would be amazing, just click the link below. http://fnd.us/c/6ltrc/sh/13Q4q4 Also some of my training videos are here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMastersofgravity

Did you get a personal trainer? Did you have friends to show you proper technique? Took a class? I really ought to do these exercises, but I can't risk injury. My livelihood depends on it.

What do you do to continually improve your strength? Are there any tips or methods that have worked well for you? I'm interested to hear how some of you approach the task of consistently getting stronger, especially those of us that compete in the same weight class. I'm sure that as we get older, more experienced and our strength is already pretty good there has to be something 'extra' that is needed in order for us to get more out of our lifts

Hi guys. I've seen a lot of workouts but few of them tell you how much to lift. I was wondering, how would you lift to build strength and muscular endruance? What sort of weight percentage and so on?

This is the second installment of a series for beginners. The purpose of this article is to give you an idea of what powerlifting is about, as well a general overview of diet, equipment and training. Please bear in mind that everyone has individual responses from diet, training etc, so this article should be taken as collective information rather than 'set in stone' fact This article was was first published on 12th October 2006. It was written by myself and I have directly lifted it (with a few minor changes) from the Pumping Fit website: http://www.pumpingfit.com/the-basics-of-powerlifting/ The Basics Of Powerlifting The fundamental goal of powerlifting is to…

The purpose of this article is to highlight some of the important things for you to consider on competition day Entering Be aware of the competition date and entry requirements well in advance. I suggest lifters plan their competitive year in January and schedule events. Make it your own responsibility to enter the event on time. I have seen lifters disappointed when they miss deadlines and are unable to enter events. There is nothing more devastating more than this after the dedication of a lengthy build up. Making weight Lifters will often look to lift in a particular weight class. This is usually for competitive reasons or to break records or set personal recor…

Hi, has anyone got any experience of these Inov-8 olympic lifting shoes? Inov-8 are a good vegan brand with a good company ethic and if these are any good I think they'll fill the gap in my olympic lifting shoes hole. http://www.inov-8.com/New/Global/Product-View-Fastlift-335-Black-Red.html?L=27

Hi, Generally I'm 1-2kg over my weight class. Which I am fine with - it's just more tactical for me to go down a weight class (less competitors) People I know that reduce weight before cometition do it by reducing salt, using herbal teas that expell water, and restricting water intake. BUT they also eat low carb 2-3 days before (just meat/fish and vegetables). I have a competition coming up in a month. It's not an important one, but it's a good chance to try out some stratergies. The difficult part of it is that weigh-in starts at 17.00 (and I'll be at work 11-16). So, any tips for me on what to eat the last couple of days before cometition? Nuts, vegetables and …
