Glad to have found this site. Vegan fitness enthusiasts are few and far between. Been a vegetarian for 2.5 years.....cut out eggs 3 months ago. All I have left is my nasty whey protein habit. I am currently using 1/2 rice protein and 1/2 whey. After my next container of whey is gone, I am buying no more! Love to get new workout and recipe ideas.

Hello!! First, I would like to thank you for the invitation to join your group, Robert. I see that you have helped so many, so there is hope? LOL I am a vegetarian seeking a greater lifestyle in becoming a total vegan. I am a woman and animal lover. I am in my 40's and also a wife, a mom, a student, an artist and a free lance writer. Fitness is important to me as I get older and stay active. I enjoy hiking, skiing and learning how to surf. Butt mainly LOL, I sit or stand more than I would like on a daily basis so I am interested in obtaining increased energy, gaining some muscle and losing a few pounds. I am grateful for the support that you provide here so we can follow …

Greetings everyone! I'm Sage and I am on a mission to become the strong and energetic bundle of joy that I was supposed to be before detouring for years into compulsive eating, eating for any reason from disappointment to boredom to celebration. ENOUGH! I asked a very well muscled friend to help me and we chatted today. He's very leery of the whole vegetarian/vegan thing and completely believes that eating flesh is the only way to deal with the protein needs associated with building muscle. Interestingly, when I asked him if he knew of any vegetarian or vegan body builders and he said he did not. I decided to do some research and here I am! Some history: This past…

Hi everybody, I have just recently started learning about veganism. I'm still in the phase of asking questions and gaining knowledge about this practice. I wasn't raised in this enviroment and I am finding it very interesting. I never realized how many natural resources we can utilize in our daily diet. I decided about a year and a half ago that it was time to change my lifestyle, it started with workout plan, and now its time for me to have a healthier diet. I look forward to talking with ya'll and reading what you have to share with me. Tammi

Hey everyone, my name is Mike Winnemuller. I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba but I currently live in Grande Prairie, Alberta. I'm a marathoner and I also do some shorter road races as well. I've been vegan since 1993. I'm currently training hard for my next marathon which I'm planning for next June in my hometown. I've run 4 full marathons and about 10 half marathons (I've lost track on how many of those I've ran). I've done probably close to 30 - 10 km. races and about 10 - 5 km. races. I also did my first triathlon earlier this summer. My goals for the near future is to break 3 hours on my next marathon and qualify for Boston. It's been about 3 years since I've last …

I think this forum is an excellent idea. Where I live, it can be difficult to find other like minded people. I prefer to be friends with people who I have something in common with...Mainly others who are interested in animal welfare and a cruelty free diet. Fitness is esp. important to me. Your ambition towards fitness is often a direct indication of how you manage other aspects of your life. -Tiffany [/b]

Hi all. I am a male in my mid thirties. I am just starting a new chapter in my life by entering grad school. I am also going to begin bodybuilding and eating properly again (as close to whole-food vegan as possible). This seems like a very good spot for information and advice. I'm looking forward to exchanging ideas with all of you.

Hello everybody (^^)^ (wave, wave) I figure it's about time that I made an introduction thread here. I run the veganly forum network over at www.vegansrock.co.uk I live on a remote Scottish island, was raised vegetarian, and have been vegan for somewhere around 3 1/2 years. I especially like watching anime, playing computer games, growing plants, talking to friends, eating tasty food, strolling in nice places, bug-watching, and watching the world go by. It's nice to meet y'all.

Hello everyone. I'm Addie, I'm 20, and Ive been a vegan for only 6 months. I started being vegetarian 3 years ago. Im really into nutrition, and I'm trying hard to be into fitness. I don't know much about it though. I like yoga, and I love to swim, but I'm not obsessed with it like I am nutrition. I'm learning though. In nursing school I learned a lot about meat being bad, and that is what helped me seal the deal to be passionate about vegetarianism. The book "Skinny Bitch" is what made me become vegan. Everyone should read it. I need a little inspiration to get me working out more... I'm a bit lazy.

It was great to meet everyone at the conference! After all of that yummy food, it's back to training for me! I am a cyclist/duathlete but took most of this season off to start the expansion of my co-owned business, Sticky Fingers Bakery. I saved all summer for a cyclocross bike and am about to try my hand at it this season. We'll see how it goes. Aside from the bakery I teach some fitness classes around town to force my butt out of bed and get a break from the day-job. I am also fund-raising for an AIDS ride of sorts this fall (www.brakingthecycle.org). Goals are imperative for me or I turn into a couch potato, and though vegan food is good for you too much of anyt…

Hi everyone! My name is Gymmie and I'm from Texas ! About 6 years ago, I lost 75 pounds and kept it off for a good while. But unfortunately it came back. So I'm working on losing it again and keeping it off this time. At that time, all I did was cardio but it really reshaped my body. I ended up being the smallest size I ever was while weighing 40 pounds MORE than my previous smallest size. I'm new to Veganism....I was a Vegetarian for several years, but in moving I went back to meat, but I'm back for good now ! I was happy to learn of this site and see that you can be Vegan and buff ! I look forward to meeting everyone and learning more!

Hello All!! I am truly inspired by this forum! I was vegan for four years. When I got into bodybuilding and fitness, I stopped being vegan. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to gain muscle and lose bodyfat. BUT recently, I have become vegan again and am ready for the challenge and inspiration of eating HEALTHY and VEGAN. When I was vegan in the past, I lived off junk food: tofutti cuties, toast, cookies etc... I am into long distance running, and try to run 7 miles, 6 days a week. I also do weight training. I do a three day split. Though I enjoy weight training and would like to gain more muscle, my heart is in running. I am starting to do races (5K..) and want…

hi, i'm new. i'm happy to find this group. i've been vegan for 2 1/2 years, and vegetarian most of my life. it's nice to find other active, healthy vegans. i'm into yoga and meditation, rock climbing and hiking. i don't bodybuild, but i'm a pretty active, athletic vegan. it's nice to see people defying the stereotype of the overly skinny, undernourished vegan (which isn't true anyway, but the myths continue). i'm a math grad student in colo. springs working on a ph.d. in math. i have 2 cats and a puppy that recently died.

Online, I go by the name Ophideus. I reside in the great Garden State, near the state capitol. Robert invited me here, and I also know a few of you from MySpace. I have been Vegan for 3 years now, and 6 months ago I got back into weightlifting (for the umpteenth time). Additional details about me can be found on my profile. Honestly, I have never been a fan of message boards/forums, but I must admit that the quality of posts and the level of activity here pleasantly surprised me. It is my honor to be given an opportunity to participate in a community populated by so many like-minded individuals. I look forward to chatting with you guys and gals.

Hi everyone, I'll try and keep this concise. I found out about this forum from compassionategirl (who, by the way, rocks!) and have posted a few messages here and there. I became vegan this past February-ish, don't remember exact dates. I am not into body building per se, however I am very into fitness, and I am also a salsa dancer and have performed in my hometown of Rochester, NY as well as in Toronto. I am mainly here to meet other vegans who are into fitness and who understand my feelings towards animals. I also want to learn more about nutrition, since I am completely inconsistent when it comes to getting the nutrients I need. Sometimes I am very good about ea…
