Try cooking celery root like this: (and for those of you who dont know what celery root is, it is nothing like celery at all. It is a round, brown, vegetable, white on the inside, a little bigger than the size of a male fist). Get one celery root and slice it up. Peel the rough, muddy, stringy skin off the slices. And also cut the slices in half to make them smaller. Make sure you wash the celery root pieces thoroughly. Next, get a few tablespoons of olive oil and throw it in a pan. Place the cut up pieces of celery root in the pan, preferably lined up along the bottom as much as possible. Next, water. about a cup or so into the pan. Make sure that all pieces o…

I made this up when I was half asleep this morning and trying to figure out what to make with the chocolate rice milk that my kids don't like, so no photos yet, and the measurements may not be precise. 1 1/2 bananas, cut into 1" pieces and frozen 1 cup chocolate rice milk (or soy, almond, whatever) 1/4 cup hemp seed heaping spoonful carob powder vegan sweetener of choice, to taste (I didn't use any) Put hemp seed and part of rice milk in blender, liquefy. Add remainder of rice milk, the carob powder, and the frozen banana chunks. Blend until it looks like a chocolate shake. Enjoy, like a chocolate shake.

Anyone know of any good cookbooks that have bread and other baking recipes? I am looking for more hearty/savory recipes and breads rather than say cookies and cakes, but both will do. Thanks, puppy

I'm going to attempt to make fresh pasta in the not too distant future and some recipes call for soy flour plus whole wheat flour, whilst others call for semolina flour. What would the VBB experts recommend?

Okay. I'm precontest dieting for the first time. Out of desperation, I've been coming up with all sorts of concoctions, and this one is a fave now. It's a good low-sodium protein for low carb days--pre-contest or otherwise--and a treat! Although right now a dirt sandwich would taste good. . . 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (28-32g worth typically, or 1/3 cup) 1 TBSP dark unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2C unsweetened soy milk (or use water only) Cold water added little by little to achieve desired consistency Stevia to taste 1/2 tsp vegan omega oil (or 1/4 tsp omega + 1/4 tsp sesamin oil) Also, I personally add 1 scoop fiber powder. Between that and the oils, it'll ma…

No, this is not a new style of MMA. It's an alternative to soy-based tofu. I actually love tofu; but the more that I read about the phytin and other potential estrogenic issues, the more I want to stay away from it. Blend 2 cups of shelled, chopped hemp seed in 3 cups of purified water for approximately a minute, until you have a thick, rich cream. Pour the cream into a large pan, and turn the heat to medium. Curds will start to form quickly. Stir occasionally. Once it starts to boil, keep it at a gentle boil for around 5 minutes. Line a colander with cheesecloth, and drain. Allow to cool, and squeeze the remaining liquid out. Put the curds into a small container, and p…

Because Soup just isn't manly enough for me. The main ingredient is Lentils. An extremely high protein, high calorie food that I recently discovered. Cook on high( Once the water starts to boil ) for about 10-20 minutes or so( Or until the lentils are edible ). While that's doing that prepare the other ingredients. Chop a block of Tofu into cubes( Whatever size you want. I recommend either extra or super firm ) and add to drainer. Chop an onion into bits and add to same drainer. Next peel and de-seed one Avocado and add it to drainer. Wash ingredients thoroughly. Next add cooked lentils to same drainer to drain water( Using same drainer to save on dishes ). Onc…

Been making this hot cocoa recipe for a few days, I love it. 1 Cup of plain soymilk 3 TBSP of coconut milk 1.5 TBSP of cocoa powder 3/4-1 TSP of Stevia Dash of vanilla extract or vanilla shavings 1 Sm cinnamon stick or cinnamon powder I mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl while heating the coconut milk and soy milk on medium heat with the cinnamon stick in the pot, whisking occasionally. Then once I see bubbles forming I remove the cinnamon stick and add the rest of the ingredients, increase the heat to med-high and whisk until it starts to steam. Remove from heat, pour it in a mug with the cinnamon stick and enjoy.
