I bought some stuff to make stir fry not knowing exactly how I was going to go about it. I figure I'll assess my vegetables on hand and throw some stuff in a pan and hope for the best, but I still need something sauce-wise. Does anyone have any suggestions for recipes for sauce, or store bought if there's anything worth a damn?

This is my first post on this board, these are sooo good I cant keep it to myself: 250gr flour 1 beer (25cl) maybe a little more 1/4th of a banana pinch of salt mix banana with part of or all beer until smooth, add to flour and add salt. maybe add a little more beer when not liquid enuf. use soy butter to bake, NOT oil!!! make sure pan is very, very hot! the batter should be pretty liquidy so you can make the pancakes very thin. pour batter into hot pan(use small piece of butter for each pancake). take the pan in your hand to spread the batter. the pancake should be very thin, it will start to bake hard straight away and will be full of air holes when thin enuf. do …

Potter, you mentioned somewhere about wishing there was another tofu-like food made from something other than soy, I believe. I've often wondered why some genius hasn't made one out of other beans

I have never really eaten them before in the past but I am finding just how great this food is. Last night I made a pie and I used only cashews and dates ground up together in food precessor to make the crust and the crust was the best part of the pie! Also, just forming the same mixture into bars and eating them straight or with a banana is soooo good too. Ok random boring post but I just wanted to declare my new love for dates!

Hey everybody, I tried this one yesterday. It turned out to be pretty tasty! (and minus the pig gelatin!) 1 Cup of Chocolate Soymilk (Ricemilk) 1/4 Banana 2 Tbsp. Ground Flaxseed (must be ground to achieve consistency) Mash the banana in a bowl and combine soymilk and ground flaxseed together until you get the pudding texture. For smoother effect, combine the contents in a blender and voila, you are ready to go to town! Enjoy! Steve 'Vegan Power'

Buckwheat Pancake Mix(I use arrowhead mills) Vegan dark chocolate chips teaspoon celtic seasalt One orange Coconut oil Follow the directions on the Mix using the juice of half an orange and the celtic seasalt. I mix enough to make 8 large pancakes. During this process just be sure NOT to mix all the small lumps out. The directions say not to overmix and I have overmixed on occasion and things dont turn out as fluffy. The O.J. fluffs the pancakes and brings the cocolate out Add the ENTIRE BAG OF VEGAN DARK CHOCOLATE CHIPS! Hey, if you cant party go make my sorbet instead ;-P Warm up the iron skillet BEFORE adding any batter. Use just enough coconut oil to barel…

Okay the bad news is you must have a vitamix. Good news is this is worth it! This has an important variation to the sorbet recipes in the Vitamix cookbook. 1 ripe banana 1.5 cups frozen blueberries 1.5 cups frozen cherries stevia powder celtic sea salt Okay throw the banana in Vitamix and get it mixed into a cream on the low setting. (you may have to stop it and scrape the banana off the sides) While is mixing slowly add a nice pinch of stevia (I use the handle end of a normal spoon) While still mixing add a pinch of celtic sea salt. (this cream base is the key secret, you will end up with about 1 cup of cream) While the vitamix is OFF add the frozen blueber…

Okay. I'm precontest dieting for the first time. Out of desperation, I've been coming up with all sorts of concoctions, and this one is a fave now. It's a good low-sodium protein for low carb days--pre-contest or otherwise--and a treat! Although right now a dirt sandwich would taste good. . . 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (28-32g worth typically, or 1/3 cup) 1 TBSP dark unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2C unsweetened soy milk (or use water only) Cold water added little by little to achieve desired consistency Stevia to taste 1/2 tsp vegan omega oil (or 1/4 tsp omega + 1/4 tsp sesamin oil) Also, I personally add 1 scoop fiber powder. Between that and the oils, it'll ma…

Okay so my wife has asked me to find some vegan recipes for our nine month old daughter. Anybody have any good ones?

Along the lines of the Chocolate Protein Pudding, this recipe arose out of the need for something yummy while dieting down. It is not a "pre-contest" food, but it IS bodybuilding/normal dieting fare due to its high-protein, low-carb, and low-fat rating. I personally think it's delish. 2C or so veg broth 1 tsp chopped garlic 1 package Shirataki fettucine noodles (*see below) 1/2 package frozen broccoli florets 1/2 block very firm tofu (or as much as you want) To taste, a blend of: nutritional yeast flakes, pepper, vegan parm, unflavored protein powder I'll let the first 4 ingredients simmer a bit, and then stir in the "to taste" mixture. Makes a creamy-cheesy sort …

If were a former cheese addict like me, you will LOVE this recipe: Ingredients: 6 campari tomatoes (choose compari - they are the best for this recipe!) Three leaves of basil (or more if you love basil) Half a block of Earth Island monteray jack vegan "cheese" Half a small onion (the sweet kind, good for salads) 1/4 cup of olive oil or a little less if you want to keep the amount of olive oil to a minimum Directions: Cut each campari tomato into four slices. Chop the basil, and the onions. Cut the cheese into cubes. Throw all of the above into a bowl, throw in the olive oil and toss. Add some salt to taste, and enjoy! The combination of campari tomat…

Damn! I love this cookbook more with each recipe I make. I am now officially hooked on homemade pesto thanks to this book! Last weekend I made the Tempeh Sausage Crumbles. It is not as authentic as GimmeLean's sausage, but it is very good & so much less processed! These could be used in so many ways. She suggests pizza & I'll bet that would be really good! I then took the crumbles & made the White Bean & Tempeh Sausage Gravy. This stuff was lip smackin' good! Again, it is not quite as authentic as GimmeLean sausage gravy, but I find it to be a wonderful replacement for such a processed product. On another board, a friend made these two items & …

Do you like papayas? I dont hate them, nor do I love them. They are just okay. They dont have that much flavour like a juicy ripe mango does. Are all papayas mild tasting or did I just pick a really tasteless papaya you think?

I know I may be asking for the impossible here but I'm gonna do it anyway!!! Does anyone have an interesting way of using spirluna that doesn't make your mouth taste like you were body surfing and a wave through you onto land and made you face plant in a ton of seaweed I just can't figure it out. Other than Odwalla bars and some Super Food drinks I haven't had any luck getting any down in a barable fashion. I gave up and for the past 2 months I've been taking my 5-8grams worth straight...sounds terrible and it is but atleast its fast(kind of...its a little like trying to swallow a spoonful of sand). Anyway I figured I'd get used to it but I'm developing a ment…

These are ultra yummy and good for a portein fix in middle of day-great for snack-although be warned, are very moorish! 100g either plain protein powder of your choice (or choc flav.) 50g almond meal 50g dessicated coconut (plus extra for coating) 100g "organic" cocoa powder-sugar free 3tbs organic unhulled tahini 2 large over-ripe bananas sugar to taste-optional-stevia powder is ultra sweet and ALL natural-not like that would be sugar and its not tested on animals to monitor its safety for human consumption as ALL artificial (and some natural)are. Combine all dry ingrediants. Blend bananas and tahini to a smooth paste. Roll into small (or large) balls,…

Never tasted tamari. How does it compare, taste wise, to soy sauce. If a recipe calls for tamari, is it close enough in taste to soy sauce such that I can just use soy sauce in its place?

All the recipes I have are for canned pumpkin...I'm trying to use the real pumpkins I have growing in my yard but I don't know what to do with them other than carve silly faces into them but it's a bit early in the year for that. FYI, pumpkins are really easy to grow. My crop this year came from the seeds I threw out in the yard last October after my nephew came over and we carved jack o lanterns. Now I have pumpkins out the wazoo and I never even watered them once. Anyway, if anyone has any tips on cooking with REAL pumpkin, please let me know. I have two in my kitchen that I fear will not last much longer.
