http://www.veggies.org.uk/arc/event.php?ref=32 We all know about the animal suffering caused by meat production. Sadly, many people continue to believe that meat is a healthy and natural product - swallowing the Government and meat industry’s propaganda and false promises - and they continue to support that suffering by buying it. This is where you come in. We have the materials which expose the true cost of meat but we need your help getting the message to the people who can really make a difference: the consumers who buy it. That’s why we are asking our supporters to join us in a month of action – don’t worry, we are not asking you to do a month long demo (!) – but wh…

Hey, I stumbled across this. It's an interview from 20002 conducted by Friends of Animals with Gary Francione, a professor of law at Rutgers University, on the state of the animal rights movement in the United States. I think it articulates some of the points we've been talking about in other threads pretty well. It certainly made me see some of the points I made differently. http://www.antispe.de/txt/interviewgaryfrancione.html

This is something I got in an e-mail and it has a link to Dannon's new project. Any thoughts on this? I'm really not a fan of the dairy industry. Anyway, here's the brief e-mail and link: Dannon wants to help feed hungry children, but they're a dairy company. As a Vegan, this s me! http://www.dannon.com/dn/dnstore/cgi-bin/ProdSubEV_Cat_240865_SubCat_241488_NavRoot_200_NavID_486924.htm

I have a problem. At home I have a rabbit and two guiny pigs(dont know if thats the correct spelling). They all live in a miniature house, and during the day I let the door open so they can run around the garden. They always go in and out of the little house by themselfs after they have eaten enough grass. When it is night time the door gets closed. The female guiny pig was pregnant, and now there are 5 baby guiny pigs. Well, there are 4 babys now becouse a cat ate one. This is the problem. The neigbours cat is always trying to kill the babys. So what do I do now? Do I just let the babys get eaten? Do I set a cat trap(non lethal)? Or do I just not let them outside until t…

Did anyone see this Associated Press story from June? http://www.livescience.com/animalworld/050621_ap_lion.html Ethioian lions are famous for their large black manes and wanted by hunters. At most, there are only 1,000 left in the wild. These lions are the country's national symbol, but there is some local concern that it may not be worth the cost to prevent their extinction. Now comes a story form Addis Ababa: A 12 year old girl was kidnapped and beaten to force her into a marriage (70% of Ethiopian marriages are by abduction). Three lions emerged from the bush and drove off the attackers. The lions then stayed with the girl and guarded her until she was found by …

A body piercing-related message board that I've been on for some time has the vegetarian question come up on occasion. This my most recent reply: It's wrong to kill. It's that simple. There are more gradual ways to come to that conclusion, but that's the bottom line. It is absolutely wrong to kill when you don't have to, and no one on this board has to. There's really no defense for eating animals. Any animals. Flesh is not a nutrional necessity, in fact you'd likely be healthier without it. 300,000 years of history is not a defense; rape and slavery were accepted acts at some points in history. "Animals taste good" is certainly not a defense. I can add reasons f…
