In this thread i want to gather information about training with weights. Everyone is free to post their experiences, routines they made good or bad experiences with, hints, advice etc. Please don't discuss programs here, and please ask only direct questions about posted programs. I will try to keep the thread dense with information. My thoughts on training: I've been working with weights for around 10 years now, and i had my deeps and ups in this time. So, i want to present you what I personally think is important when you want to get bigger and/or stronger. I'll keep it on a general base, at least at first, and won't go into details of my workout, as i believe t…

Hi all Over the next week or so I plan to sit down and have a good look at the functions and features of the board. Keen to hear what you like, what you think could be better as well as any ideas you might have to make it run better. For example, I noticed that there's another forum that has two buttons which I think are great; one is a 'thanks' and the other is a 'reputation' button. They go towards the users ranking on the board, is a nice little touch (and I've often wanted to say a quick thanks to someone on here before haha). I'll have to see if this forum has the capability to add a 'like' or 'thanks' button in response to someone's post. Anyhow, I'll shut u…

I am trying out this 80/10/10 diet. Second day, and really hungry and light headed. Anyone else tried this out? What has been your experience? All raw, mostly fruit. I would love some feedback on any results.

Question: How fast do you think you and I and everyone else here at VBBF can reach the combined total ofOne Million Push Ups? I was browsing the forum and was surprised to see we didn't have one of these threads which are very popular elsewhere. Basically everytime you do pushups, remember how many you did and then post here. We'll keep a running total and see how fast we can all contribute to One Million Push Ups completed by members of VBBF. THE VBBF ONE MILLION PUSH UP CHALLENGE: What will YOU contribute? Rules: 1. Be honest! (no hijacking with posts like '5 billion in the past 20 minutes' and imaginary push ups do no count). This is no race, 1 is a contribution.…

Hi everyone - I have been vegan for 25 years. Working out for about 20 years, but only seriously trying to build mass for about a year or two. My questions are about number of exercises to do per body part. I really enjoy working out. When I am doing back, there is probably 9 or more exercises I like to do. My concern is I don't want to overdo it. I want to put on muscle mass, but not planning to compete. Just get bigger. I try to limit my workout to 60 - 90 minutes. My current routine for back: 3 sets bodyweight overhand pull-ups Cable or machine rows Cable or dumbbell reverse flys or rear delt rows (any advice on one over the other?) Bicep curls (cables or b…

So, it appears we may have to upgrade to 3.1.x of the phpBB forum software as I suspect the 3.0.x line will likely be stopping support soon. As such, I figure tomorrow might be a good day to do the update early in the morning (PST) while people are still recovering from ringing in the New Year. I'll be aiming around 7am PST (Los Angeles) The server will be unavailable. I will be backing up the server before I begin this but I do HIGHLY recommend that you do back up anything that you might want to save. Due to the time it's taking to do the backup, I'll do the upgrade tomorrow after I've confirmed the backup is good. I hate when life interferes. Ok. I've had to…

After much monkeying about in the backend of the server, I finally got the email issue resolved. So for those that want to change passwords, need to register, etc. you should be able to get emails from the forum now for those activities. Let me know if there are any issues.

Hi everybody As some of you might know, I just became the new owner of a health/supplement store on 3rd December... http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3187 I apologise for not being on here as much as I normally am, I simply have not had the time to sit down and browse through the forum as I love to do. So please don't think that I have left, don't care, can't be bothered any more etc etc !! Far from it. I just found out from my Head Office that they want to feature myself in their national magazine, this to me is a great chance to spread the word about veganism and its' health benefits (among other things). This will be in the Feb/Ma…

So the topic of user topics has been brought up. One suggestion for the ranks is the following: 0 - 9 = Finch 10 - 199 = Rabbit 200 - 499 = Manatee 500 - 999 = Gorilla 1000 - 2999 = Elephant 3000+ = Stegosaurus I would like some agreement on them. If you like the suggested ranks, please vote yes. If you do not like them, vote no and leave a comment on suggestions as to what to change. If you like none or most of them and have suggestions otherwise.

Hello everyone! Some of you might not be aware of simple actions that go a long way in supporting this website. I fund it all myself and it can get expensive at times with the tours and promotions, give-aways and programs, and paying those who help run and maintain the website. I want to inform you of ways you can contribute to this wonderful resource by doing things you already do. Here are some easy ways to support this forum and www.veganbodybuilding.com: 1. If you already use Vega products, please consider ordering from any of the 4 stores I work with. When these stores order from Vega, I get commission. I've been working with Vega for 6 years and these days I…

HI there has anyone had an issue with pea protein isolate? I seem to have some sort of inflammation in my knees plus a few pains in other places, I wasn't sure it was the pea protein, but I didn't have any for a few days then had some again and same issue, I have no problems with peas cooked or raw, I even like the taste of the pea portein, I don't get it, with others like pre-made mixes like vivo life or raw revolution, vega or sun warrior and they all have pea protein in, any ideas? Any advice or questions would be totally welcome. Many thanks

Hi there! I want to start working out again, because I've gotten really out of shape over the past years. Years before I did a split bodyweight routine like push, pull, core, legs. I have a busy schedule so I'm thinking of doing full body workouts, because I'm unsure I could get 4 days of workout every week. MY question is. If I can get 4 days every day in theory, would a 4 day full body workout give me the same results as a 4 day split? For example. When I did a 4 day split mentioned above, I did 4 excercises for each group. So doing 4 excercises for each group splitting it to four days would be the same as doing 1 excercise for each group (push, pull, core, legs) ever…

I don't really know where to start but I have a lot of questions. Quick background: I've been a vegan for about 8 years now and I've always been into some type of exercise but I've never been able to get in real 'shape'. I guess that's subjective, however, what I mean is I've never been able to build a lot of muscle and get rid of that last bit of body fat. I still can't even do a single pull up. My doctor actually told me that I needed to lift weights more because I have a bad fat to body weight ratio. (Not sure exactly what the ratio is but I'm 5'6 and 120 lbs.) For the past two months, I've been doing HIIT workouts such as sprinting or jump rope twice a week, 30-mi…

So, I've just started bulking and body building in general, I weigh 57/58 kilos and I'm 174cm tall. I know I'm under weight but I do have muscle. My plan is to reach 70 kilos by the start of july, consuming around 2900 calories with the help of the website "Eat this much" which calculates what I need and plans daily meals. I'll also be using products from this site http://www.veggie-style.com/ONLINE-SHOP/index.php?aff_id=33 (It has a 10% discount code "plantpowered") Also before I join a gym or anything similar, I'll be doing bodyweight workouts at home. Any tips or techniques I should try or know? is my goal realistic? or does anyone have expirience bulking fr…

Most of you have seen my friend Ben featured on the front page of the main website. For those who haven't, here is a photo of Big Ben. He is 36 and has never eaten meat in his life. He is one of the biggest guys at a bodybuilder's gym where I train. Check out Ben's articles on www.veganbodybuilding.com main page or go directly to them here: http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/article/515 and http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/article/658 Ben is an awesome guy, extremely nice and has been bodybuilding for 16 years so he knows a thing or two about building muscle.

Hey, I'm a 22 year old guy and I've been working out on and off for about a year or so. I've got a few questions in terms of building muscle. Question 1. Is it going to sabotage me building muscle if I wait a few hours to eat after weight lifting? For example, if I worked out at 1:30PM and ate a meal 2 or 4 hours later, would I lose the results from my workout? Is there a certain amount of time you should eat after a workout? Question 2. Why are my arms smaller than and not growing as fast as my torso? When I look at myself in the mirror, I notice that my torso seems to grow faster than my arms from working out, and I feel like my arms aren't as big as they should…

today,we are covering the topic “chest workout at home with dumbbells” hii, this is sachin raj here as you know, we love the barbell bench press as much as you can do, but just because you have been doing it each Monday night since high school does not mean you can not change it up every once in a while. Pressing with the dumbbells is much safer for your shoulders group and activates more pectoral muscle group, that means more focused training directly on your chest. and plus, at times when a home or hotel or hostel gym is all you have access to, dumbbells are the best weapon for you, you’ve got. now days people are so excited to build a great chest but they don…

I know a lot of people on these boards display somewhat anti-supplement sentiments, but I thought I had to ask anyways. I'm looking for a better pump while working out, and I'm considering taking a Nitric Oxide supplement...yes I know it's not essential...but I was wondering two things: 1. Are most Nitric Oxide supplements vegan? (here's a sample of whats in NO Explode http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/xplode.html) 2. Do any of you take an NO supplement? If you do, does it live up to its claim of increased blood flow and better pumps? -PRESKO
