After much monkeying about in the backend of the server, I finally got the email issue resolved. So for those that want to change passwords, need to register, etc. you should be able to get emails from the forum now for those activities. Let me know if there are any issues.

Hi all Over the next week or so I plan to sit down and have a good look at the functions and features of the board. Keen to hear what you like, what you think could be better as well as any ideas you might have to make it run better. For example, I noticed that there's another forum that has two buttons which I think are great; one is a 'thanks' and the other is a 'reputation' button. They go towards the users ranking on the board, is a nice little touch (and I've often wanted to say a quick thanks to someone on here before haha). I'll have to see if this forum has the capability to add a 'like' or 'thanks' button in response to someone's post. Anyhow, I'll shut u…

In this thread i want to gather information about training with weights. Everyone is free to post their experiences, routines they made good or bad experiences with, hints, advice etc. Please don't discuss programs here, and please ask only direct questions about posted programs. I will try to keep the thread dense with information. My thoughts on training: I've been working with weights for around 10 years now, and i had my deeps and ups in this time. So, i want to present you what I personally think is important when you want to get bigger and/or stronger. I'll keep it on a general base, at least at first, and won't go into details of my workout, as i believe t…

I am trying out this 80/10/10 diet. Second day, and really hungry and light headed. Anyone else tried this out? What has been your experience? All raw, mostly fruit. I would love some feedback on any results.

Question: How fast do you think you and I and everyone else here at VBBF can reach the combined total ofOne Million Push Ups? I was browsing the forum and was surprised to see we didn't have one of these threads which are very popular elsewhere. Basically everytime you do pushups, remember how many you did and then post here. We'll keep a running total and see how fast we can all contribute to One Million Push Ups completed by members of VBBF. THE VBBF ONE MILLION PUSH UP CHALLENGE: What will YOU contribute? Rules: 1. Be honest! (no hijacking with posts like '5 billion in the past 20 minutes' and imaginary push ups do no count). This is no race, 1 is a contribution.…

Hi everyone - I have been vegan for 25 years. Working out for about 20 years, but only seriously trying to build mass for about a year or two. My questions are about number of exercises to do per body part. I really enjoy working out. When I am doing back, there is probably 9 or more exercises I like to do. My concern is I don't want to overdo it. I want to put on muscle mass, but not planning to compete. Just get bigger. I try to limit my workout to 60 - 90 minutes. My current routine for back: 3 sets bodyweight overhand pull-ups Cable or machine rows Cable or dumbbell reverse flys or rear delt rows (any advice on one over the other?) Bicep curls (cables or b…

So, it appears we may have to upgrade to 3.1.x of the phpBB forum software as I suspect the 3.0.x line will likely be stopping support soon. As such, I figure tomorrow might be a good day to do the update early in the morning (PST) while people are still recovering from ringing in the New Year. I'll be aiming around 7am PST (Los Angeles) The server will be unavailable. I will be backing up the server before I begin this but I do HIGHLY recommend that you do back up anything that you might want to save. Due to the time it's taking to do the backup, I'll do the upgrade tomorrow after I've confirmed the backup is good. I hate when life interferes. Ok. I've had to…

Hi everybody As some of you might know, I just became the new owner of a health/supplement store on 3rd December... http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3187 I apologise for not being on here as much as I normally am, I simply have not had the time to sit down and browse through the forum as I love to do. So please don't think that I have left, don't care, can't be bothered any more etc etc !! Far from it. I just found out from my Head Office that they want to feature myself in their national magazine, this to me is a great chance to spread the word about veganism and its' health benefits (among other things). This will be in the Feb/Ma…

So the topic of user topics has been brought up. One suggestion for the ranks is the following: 0 - 9 = Finch 10 - 199 = Rabbit 200 - 499 = Manatee 500 - 999 = Gorilla 1000 - 2999 = Elephant 3000+ = Stegosaurus I would like some agreement on them. If you like the suggested ranks, please vote yes. If you do not like them, vote no and leave a comment on suggestions as to what to change. If you like none or most of them and have suggestions otherwise.

Hello everyone! Some of you might not be aware of simple actions that go a long way in supporting this website. I fund it all myself and it can get expensive at times with the tours and promotions, give-aways and programs, and paying those who help run and maintain the website. I want to inform you of ways you can contribute to this wonderful resource by doing things you already do. Here are some easy ways to support this forum and www.veganbodybuilding.com: 1. If you already use Vega products, please consider ordering from any of the 4 stores I work with. When these stores order from Vega, I get commission. I've been working with Vega for 6 years and these days I…

Alright, so I just took the CSCS exam and realized that I cannot get the exam results back until my college transcripts have arrived. I overnight mailed them my transcripts, called them and they said they cannot predict how long it will take for them to confirm a pass or a fail. Can anyone else who has faced a similar predicament give me any clue of what I face. As for the test content, very hard! The video questions I think I nailed and I think I did pretty well with the nutrition and anatomy questions. Where I stumbled a bit I think are with rest periods when it comes to sprinting, there were several questions that related to rest/work intervals with sprinting and it …

I work out at home with free weights and I am looking for different lifts to change things up. What are some good exercises I can do at home for chest and back. Currently I do... CHEST: Flat Bench Press Incline Bench Press Decline Bench Press I plan on rotating flyes back into my chest routine, are incline flyes better than flat bench flyes? BACK: Pull Ups Single arm dumbbell rows Bent over barbell rows Rear delt raise (Reverse flyes) I don't do dead-lifts because of a lower back injury and I am constantly in fear of re-injuring it. I know it's probably all in my head and I should be doint them, maybe I'll start bringing them back in a little at a time. I really wou…

Does anyone have suggestions for a more natural safe product for competition tan color? The best I have found so far is a product called South Seas which is paraben free. Any product suggestions would be appreciated. I am registered for the Arnold in March for the master Figure division. Thanks.

Okay before anyone says "google it" I have done, a lot. There's a lot of conflicting information on the internet so I thought I would get opinions from people that genuinely weight train. So my question is, how many reps/sets do you find best for gaining muscle size!? Personally I like to go for between 10-12 reps for 3-4 sets

Hello All! I competed in my first bikini competition a week ago. I've only been vegan since Jan. 1, and I was excited to be one of the few, and I think the only vegan competitor at this particular event. I placed 3rd (hooray!) But I want to move forward differently. The day of the show (I felt) I did not step on stage looking my best. I looked better a week before and the days that followed. It has taken me a week to physically get over competing. I would really like to hear what other competitors do for training, water and food the 2 weeks and particularly the week before competition. Water or no water the days before and day of show? Carb depleting followed b…

I just wanted to get an idea for what type of music the folk on here listen to when working out? Who's on your workout mix tape (or playlist for all the iPod savvy members)? For some reason, lately I've been exercising to some obscure West African bass and drum stuff.

I often observe habits that people have in the gym. For example, they complete 3 sets of a particular exercise and then decide to perform a different exercise for an additional 3 sets. Often times, when people do this, they perform their first set a little lighter than there 2nd and 3rd set. In fact, I often times observe people perform they're 3rd set using their heaviest weight. To me, if I can get 10 reps with 100 pounds on my first set and then 10 reps with a 120 pounds on my 2nd set, then the first set was to light and was a waste. I won't count it! This is were acclimation sets come in. An acclimation set is performed when changing exercises. It allows me to make …
