Falling off the Raw wagon!!

Help! Hahaha!

I was on a mostly raw diet and then I moved in with my boyfriend ( who LOVES to cook, btw) and I've fallen off the raw wagon.

Anyone have any good recipes/ ideas for meals that I can introduce him to? I'm still fairly new at this, so I haven't really gotten a chance to really experiment with it either.

I have noticed a big difference in my energy levels.. On a raw diet I have way more. I also feel better mentally. Today I had trouble doing simple tasks at work cuz my mind was so cloudy!

She's an absolute sweetheart and her and I have always seen

eye to eye on how to 'do it raw' (like using dates for sweetness instead of

agave nectar..).

Also, searching on youtube ..they have lots of raw vegan "uncooking"

shows.

 

 

Take it slow. Otherwise you'll constantly be running in circles

(unless you have phenomenal willpower), just transition slowly and

listen to your body.

I've been craving those wraps you had at Proper Eats

 

 

 

Oh those are super easy to make! Wraps are my 'at home' gourmet

raw stuff... they are super quick and easy, and you can put

whatever you want in them! We could make tahini lemon ones!

My raw diet is usually pretty boring. Still trying to think of something good for breakfast I can make every morning.

Lunch is usually a salad, snacks are fruits, or nuts..

I make green smoothies as well which are really yummy but nothing too creative. When I was on a more rigid diet I would only eat about 2 cooked meals a day and everything else would be raw. I would eat about 6 times a day or so. Boring eh?

 

That's what I need -- creativity.

I wanna get on the raw vagon too, can be tofu in a raw vegan diet? because it's yeasted and alive again or what

 

 

 

I don't think tofu would be considered a raw food...

Or at least, I know from personal experience, if you eat a very clean

raw food diet, and then try and eat some tofu.. it will EFF you Up!(make

you very sick)

So, that, in my eyes, means it is not meant for my consumption.

 

 

Also, you cannot pick tofu from a tree or pull it from the earth.

Which is kind of the point of eat raw.... simplicity.

No, but you can milk a tofu.

 

 

 

Also, IN MY OPINION, eating a cooked meal after a while of raw does not eff you up. I think that is all a mental thing, personally.

I agree with Zack and the same goes for vegan to non vegan even though once i had a terrible stomache ache when i had a slice of pizza after a couple mos of vegan a ways back but from raw to non raw it was never horrible just didn't feel right, that's all. Digestion changed a lil too for about 1 1/2 days.

 

Any new points to discuss Marcina, fire away.

 

Though you can do certain things with a dehydrator you can make alot of stuff without it. It is beneficial to have a food processor and a blender though.

 

Avocados/Tomatoes/Garlic/Nuts/spices + food processor equals easy to do yummy filling pate or salad dressing.

 

Coconut meat cacao goji berries and anything sweet + blender = very yummy shake

 

Homeade Frozen fruit sorbets nuff said

 

Water nuts mesh net drainer + bender = good tasting nut milk cashew, brazil, macadameia my favs

 

Dates and nuts crushed together make a great crust for any type of pie. Could it get any simpler than that?

 

wrap anything you want into a raw nori sheet and munch away.

 

there is nothing in the world imo easier to sprout than quinoa and it lasts 2 weeks chilled and continues to sprout in the fridge.....

I usually ate soy after workout and next day morning I got up with a headache and my nose was full of crap, yesterday I didn't ate any soy only some seeds and today morning there weren't any problem

 

 

Soy is the next most mucous forming food to the human body.

Only second to gluten and dairy products.

 

Soy is very mucous forming and acidic to the system, that is why

you had that reaction. I've experienced similar things.. as well

as having physical symptoms of something NOT being good for my

body(becoming very sick/vomiting).

I think mucous producing is a good sign to show you should

stay away... or at least, consume tempeh, it is fermented and

is your best bet if you're going to consume soy products.

Well then I think I'll give up soy than, it's not too good getting up with an headache and crappy nose

My boyfriend likes to cook pasta so I sometimes end up eating it and regretting it the day after.

Like today.

Same here.. I really think everyone has these reactions, just some of

us are more intune with our bodies than others. And for some it can

manifest in other ways.. thru other avenues in the body.

 

 

 

Also, they make spinach pasta!!

I use to have it with my homemade spagetti sauce when I was

"transitioning", and doing all gluten-free foods.

So, look around for other varieties, also.. the bulk sections might

have something too. Seriously, you CAN make pasta/starch dishes

without having them mess you up and weigh you down..

 

 

Also, really I don't think processed soy was meant for consumption

anyhow. If we do consume ANY soy in our diets, it should be in

it's more 'natural' form, and that is edamame.

I think I might die if I was allergic to gluten...My grandmother is FB Italian and I eat pasta like crazy and Fresh Italian bread and breadsticks...that is the only thing I can eat at her house and polenta too is another one of my favorites...all good vegan stuff..probably not that good for you...my grandmother puts maple syrup on my polenta...ha!

 

But she makes me salad too. I think when I became vegan it was harder on her then me...I can't even Imagine what would happen if I told her I was not going to cook my food. She would have a fit.

 

I do eat alot of raw veggies though Raw carrots and cauliflower are my favorite...and I eat green peppers like they are apples and I love raw onions. On a raw diet can you eat cooked beans?Or did I just answer my own question.

My mom is half Italian, my bf is Italian.. Trying to live a gluten free diet with them around cooking delicious food is damn near impossible.

 

A raw diet is pretty tough too. If I lived alone it would be no problem but my bf loves cooking and it makes him a sad panda when I don't eat his yummy food. At least he cooks vegan for me. That alone is awesome. I want to make him supper tonight for a change. I have the day off work and he's bringing home fresh fruits and veggies from the local market. I think I'll make a yummy salad and something.
