Flare
As some maybe remember I had to let one of my two rabbits go last year. I was first searching for a new better home for the other girl Kiki - unsuccessful. After she became lonelier and lonelier I started to look for a new partner from a animal welfare orga but that wasn't easy as well, because they all were too young.Until I went for a walk to an adventure playground (it's a part of an institution for disabled people) where they have some animals as well. And also an enclosure for rabbits. I fell in love with a not too young neutered buck, I was allowed to take him home and the bring-together with Kiki was successful promptly! I named him Hawk. It was great to see Kiki happy again. But then somethings happened I wasn't anticipate. After one week Hawk started to build a nest and emerged as a Hawkine... That's what I found when I came home from a photoshooting on 12th of April http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/3452/img3874mi2.jpg 7 in number!!! 13 April http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8533/img3876iq0.jpg 15 April http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/917/img3879rg4.jpg But two were much smaller and too weak. 7 kids are a lot for rabbits in that size. And the ideal age for gestation is from 8 month to max. 2 years. Hawkine is about 4 years the previous owner said - so much too old. I think she was unable to handle so many whelps. So two babies died on 16 April - two others on 17 April(in spite of start supplementing surrogate mother's milk every three hours) http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/111/img3880xm1.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6710/img4030aj8.jpg The bunch on 16 April http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/6808/img3888gu0.jpg The rest of the bunch, only three left http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1308/img4034ak8.jpg I started scaling them. 24 April http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/7238/img4483ko3.jpg 106 g / ~ 0,233 lb http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8906/img4484tm8.jpg 77 g / ~ 0,169 lb http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3840/img4487qs6.jpg 67 g / ~ 0,147 lb http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/309/img4490pl8.jpg 25 April 113 g / ~ 0,249 lb http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/4304/img4495xh3.jpg 74 g / ~ 0,163 lb http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/7331/img4493yv6.jpg 71 g / ~ 0,156 lb http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/2363/img4497iy7.jpg 27 April They left the nest and start running around! 28 April http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5313/img5336vq6.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/205/img5335vm6.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/688/img5342tv0.jpg 30 April 129 g / ~ 0,284 lb http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1829/img5361fm0.jpg 100 g / ~ 0,220 lb http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6097/img5356vm2.jpg 89 g / ~ 0,196 http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5418/img5349fr5.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2070/img5361zc6.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/6170/img5363ge8.jpg http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/643/img5371ax7.jpg 2 May http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/3366/img5381kw2.jpg http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/3457/img5385hg4.jpg http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/4237/img5387sw9.jpg http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/3261/img5390om9.jpg 8 May 182 g / ~ 0,401 lb137 g / ~ 0,302 lb115 g / ~ 0,253 lb with Kiki (she makes a fantastic job) http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/8233/img5423wh9.jpg http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/273/img5434vo8.jpg with Hawkine http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/9995/img5445to7.jpg http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1549/img5451of3.jpg 13 May The biggest one died.... http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/38/fuckeaster132oj7.jpg May, 23th http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1848/img55793en9.jpg http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6550/img560933ew8.jpg with the proud mummy http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/8713/img5594ak0.jpg proud auntie http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/4198/img559216dg5.jpg Kiki & Hawkine http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/liebe/g094.gif http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/5753/img560832pc1.jpg

pelicanAndrew
That's too bad that all of them didn't make it, but I suppose that's why rabbits reproduce so much. They are too freaking adorable!
