Vita-Mix blenders

God damn. I cannot afford this. Looking at your prices, I was assuming it'd be like £200. But it's £400 for me in this country. That's $800. There is a blendtec blender going for £800. That's $1,600. What's going on!? I want to try a green smoothie, but I don't want to spend this much to experiment with something that I may dislike

It is possible to make them with cheaper blenders, they're just nowhere near as good as when you have professional equipment. You can sort of get the idea though with a cheaper blender.

What is the difference, is it primarily that it is bigger chunks?

Yeah and you can definitely taste the spinach or whatever greens you put in it no matter how much fruit you add to it. With a vitamix or blendtec there are no chunks at all and it's totally smooth and delicious. Plain spinach is great, but when you blend it up it can be a little funky. I still do it cause I honestly kind of like the taste even if it's not perfectly blended. I still might get a vitamix or blendtec in a couple of months.

I bought a Jack LaLane Healthmaster 100 because I heard the motor quality was comparable to a Blendtec or Vitamix

I bought is for $39.99 on clearance at JC Penneys but they normally run about $100.00. I found it while googling info about people in the same boat as me who were having a hard time coming up with the cash for a Vitamix

I thought it was a great value and I'm really happy with it, but I haven't broke down any hardcore veggies yet... just fruits, ice, purees, etc.

I used my Vita-Mix for the first time tonight. I made a fruit smoothie with OJ, Banana, and Frozen Strawberries. Normally I would make it in my Magic Bullet. In the Magic Bullet, the strawberry seeds are intact and get into my teeth when I drink the smoothie. The Vita-Mix blended all of the tiny little seeds. No more seeds in my teeth.

The Vita-Mix came with a book of Whole Food Recipes. I can't wait to check them out. The website also has many vegan recipes that I am going to try. So far so good.
