I dont want to tell you to not loose anymore weight because i am not you and cannot presume to know what your true body composition is and what your real goals are. I can say this, do not judge yourself by others because you will always fail. There will always be one more girl more skinny than the last. I was severely overweight and then dropped down to severely underweight by unhealthy means. Now im around an average weight. The one thing that helped me was to spread out my food intake to 5 meals a day and to add back the calories i cut very slowly in the form of 50-100 calories per week allowing my body to adjust to the increased caloric intake. I still can really only take in about 2200 calories max before i start gaining weight, and this is with exercise so i understand being careful. I am still overwhelmed by my body and tend to see myself as i once was especially when i compare myself to others. It takes a while for the brain to recognize the transformation as well. Be healthy about your goals and realistic as well. Sometimes its a mental trip that needs work instead of a physical trip.

You look great...Don't worry about anything...

I would give anything to eat 1200 cals and not lose weight...

With having to eat that little you can have a great life full of activities without having to worry about eating all the time...

 

Some people have to eat 2500-3000cals just to maintain their weight..Thats very frustrating...

Congratulations on your success, your pictures show that you went through a huge transformation and that you look very nice RIGHT NOW

 

I lost 48 lbs last year by counting calories. I've always had a fuel efficient system. I've always eaten less than various calorie charts and formulas said a person of my size needed to eat.

 

I decided to not let my low calorie numbers bother me and do what it takes to lose about a pound a week. A near universally agreed upon rate of loss for health and good results.

 

I told myself that medical science frequently admits to having a lot to learn about nutrition on an individual basis. I also told myself that I could trust my hunger reflexes in that if I felt stomach hunger: rumbling, contractions in my abs, and sharp pains. I told myself that if I felt those things I really could believe I needed more energy and I would use that as a sign that my calorie count was too low for that day.

 

These things reassured me. I disregarded the calorie charts and kept a food diary. I kept lowering my calorie intake until I lost a pound a week.

 

At the end of the year, losing at this conservative rate, despite the low calorie numbers, I look much better. I avoided many of the problems of people who cut back too much: loose skin, flabby body, stretch marks. Not only do I look good, I feel good. Several incipient health problems related to carrying extra weight disappeared.

 

Forget the daily calorie figures you "shouldn't" go below. If you adjust your intake and output to lose no more than 1 pound a week you are eating a safe amount of food.

 

I also second what everyone else has written. You look great as you are right now. If you were here, I would toss some vegan chreezy pickup lines at you?

Wonderful progress, great job!

 

Every one's metabolism is different. I have a very slow one! I am 5'5" and consume 1100 calories on non-lifting days and 1400 on lifting days. Off season once per week I eat a calorie boost (It's a "re feed" not a "cheat" which means boost your calories with nutritional food), this keeps my body from "settling". Eat every 2-3 hours 5-6 times per day and be sure you are getting your sleep in as well as rest days, where your body has the ability to rest and repair.

 

The thing about having a slow metabolism is .... yes, I can not eat as much as most people my height, but then again my grocery bill is lower since my body doesn't need as much .... always have to look on the positive side!

Thanks for all the advice! I really am taking it ALL into consideration.

 

I'm at 20% body fat, and my goal is to lose 5% by the time I go back to school in September. I've been following the Body Sculpting Bible (the girl one) 3 times a week in addition to my running everyday.

 

Trying to be in shape like all of you is tough.

to strat off, you look FANTASTIC! loving it.

and if you say if you eat more than that many calories, then i believe you. maybe you just need to switch up your TYPE of calories. are you getting adequate protein to support your lifting? You need protein to help your muscles develop, and when the muscle develops, it burns waaay more coloreis that fat, so simple by having more muscle, you'll be burning more calories even at a resting rate.

when i plataued when i was losing weight, i was eating mostly carbs and getting really frustrated that i couldn't lose any more or transform further, it was changing the types of foods i ate that helped me break past that. try substituting some lean proteins in for some of the carbs you eat and see how your body responds to that.

Good thing you stopped taking that medication. You can prevent or heal everything with foods. If you eat some omega-3 (like from flax seeds for instance) every week, it's gonna give better results then Prozac and things like that, and without any side effetcs.

 

That's the kind of logic that got Tom Cruise in trouble! Seriously, I totally agree that a healthy diet can prevent and heal much of the world's suffering. But there's a place for medication. Many illnesses, including mental and emotional ones, are too profound to be treated with diet and lifestyle alone.

 

Maybe you're right, I'm not a medecine specialist -- I don't take any medecine, never see any doctor, and I'm never sick, lol. What happened with Tom Cruise? It depends which foods he chose as medecine.

But according to what I've read about the Hyppocrate Institute and other fasting/living food centers, it appears it can heal about any severe diseases, even terminally ill cancers. Some patients had huge tumors in breasts, brain, etc, and the tumors retracted and disappeared after a few days/weeks of good foods, where chimiotherapy and conventionnal medecine failed for years. According to the doctors in those institutes, there's not a single disease that can't be healed with a raw diet based on fruits and greens and that the success rate is 100%, for absolutly all different types of diseases including psychological and mental illness.

Don't make your situation worse with drugs and taking them without guidance.

 

Distract yourself with something you enjoy and get absorbed in while doing what you can to find to another job.

 

Remind yourself that you lost jobs before and have found another. It is just time and effort. It isn't as if the universe laid down a black cloud. You will get a job again. Just keep reminding yourself that.

I don't care losing or getting a job, but the fact of doing something useless (or not doing anything) affects me a lot. During hard times, days seems so empty yet this period seems to never end. But after when we feel better, we look at it as if it was so far away, because we changed and that's what make us grow.

People keep telling me I have to eat meat to lose weight, but I know that that is not the answer. Does anyone have any advice?

 

They also say that when you want to gain weight.

Yeah, that's my thing. I don't want to be a burden on my boyfriend by just staying home all day long and not bringing in money. I feel totally useless right now

Point is, I've been at a plateau at 122 for about a year (with some ups and downs) and it's really frustrating since I've been kicking my ass running everyday. Hopefully weight training will kick it up a little and get this gross fat off my body.

Your "after" picture could be better, but I don't see any "gross fat" on your body. Don't compete with fashion models. While most American men like slim women, they don't like *skinny* women. You look good.

I know how you feel, though Liz. I too, tend to be far too hard on myself. Especially when it comes to my appearance.

 

Weight training is awesome for burning fat because you continue burning calories after a workout, and the lean muscle mass you build will help you burn calories at rest too.

It's win-win!

If you lived here in my area, I'd probably have a crush on you, cuz you really really really look pretty much perfect to me.

 

Ok... time to be 25 again
