Couture547
I've heard from a couple different sources that once you soak a seed the fat goes down and protein and carbs go up a little. I'm not talking about eatting a sprount i'm just talk about a soaked seed or nut. Any one know any thing about this?
joelk
I don't know about the fat going down or protein going up but I think soaking nuts and seeds makes the nutrients more bioavailable. It is also supposed to increase the oxygen content. Either way, they taste better soaked in my opinion
Fallen_Horse
The big problem (esp. with testing enzymes) is that you can't tell the nutritional content of a food without essentially destroying it (cooking, calorimeter, etc.). So it makes it nearly impossible to determine the 'live food' benefits of sprouted foods...
joelk
You're correct and for the most part I think it is a hypothesis. I'm was just going by the theory that sprouted foods contain more life force.
DV
I made a raw pie yesterday and I can tell you that if you soak nuts (or seeds) and then dry them, the pie crust is much less oily. Since there is no oil floating on the top of the soaking water it's still in the nuts or seeds.
