Is it just me or do most (not all) raw foodist look like shit? it makes me wonder why that's the case because in theory it's the best diet there is and should make you look better. My theory is that it's becasue the people that tend to gravitate toward raw food are people that either feel really bad or looked really bad. Most people that feel great and look great feel no reason to change. my self i got into raw food becasue i've felt really bad. Most the people i know would never change there diet's becasue they feel great by default. Even most the so called guru's look like absolute crap and more than likely don't perform very well. Some people like Dr Graham look very bad, but at least i've heard he's a great athlete for his age.

Wow this was an extremely negative posting.

With not much insight, thought, or gratitude involved.

It is true you can follow a raw food diet and be extremely healthy, it

is also true you can be unhealthy.

You can abide by any diet plan and be unhealthy.

It really comes down to your frame of mind.

Rather a raw food guru "looks like shit" or not, is completely subjective.

I'd love to hear some other examples of raw foodists you feel "look awful" ?

I do understand there are some awful looking raw foodists, I've met plenty.

BUT, I also understand there are some PHENOMENALLY amazing looking

raw foodists, because I've met plenty.

yeah, i think you're kind of on to something with there being some sickly people that gravitate towards it, but many of the most beautiful people i've met are raw foodists, not to mention demi moore

Yep it's true there are some people that look great that are raw foodist, but it makes me wonder would they look great if they were sad eaters. I see people daily that are beatiful fit people that are sad eaters, but just have great genes. I'd bet that 60 percent of looking good and performing great is genetic and the other 40 is diet, life style and exercise. The best fighter on the planet( Fedor) has a horriable diet worse than alot of sad diet yet he's a freakishly strong, great cardio and more

There's nothing negitive about it it's just something i've noticed along with a friend of mine who's also a raw foodist. I was just wondering why this could be becasue everyone knows that raw foods are the best foods that you can eat. I'm not going to point out what people look bad except the guru's who are pubic people.

As has been said, you can be unhealthy on any diet.

Personally, lean and green has a radiance about him that you don't see very often. He looks fantastic and is raw. Must be all that raw algae protein.

I tend to agree with Zack that one can look very good or very poor on any diet. It is sad that someone can eat 5 chickens a day and still look super muscular and fit like many bodybuilders do....but of course as it is obvious, looking good, doesn't always mean "healthy."

There are a lot of bodybuilders who look incredible who end up with major health problems in their 30s or 40's.

I imagine that some raw foodists who "look" unhealthy, could be quite healthy and happy. There are also some who probably aren't very healthy, just like you'll find in any group of people who follow a specific lifestyle.

I guess the goal could be to look and feel great and follow whatever lifestyle suits that well and is in line with your value systems.

Feeling well should be an ultimate goal.

I've eaten 98% raw today and if I were gay I wouldn't be able to stop touching myself.

You just don't know what time it is cause of all the toxins in your body!

i'm curious what the 2% cooked was

Frozen spinach. It'll kill me coz it's cooked and I'm all out of enzymes! I'm going out awesome and sexy though. You can take that to the bank!

aww.. you're so sweet Tasha! thank you

Same to you girl!

And yes, in my eyes, this posting felt very negative.

Because it's only seeing one side of a topic.. rather than viewing the whole.

And understanding that there are 2 sides to everything.

Also, I have found that some raw foodists... just look better in person!!

I could list several, but the first two that come to mind are...

Ani Phyo and Tonya Kay. Photographically.. they look stellar; but in person

they look even more phenomenal!!!

PURE RADIANCE.

So sometimes people aren't as photogenic as their energy is..

So, while Gabriel Cousens might not look in his 20's when he's in his 60's

(I believe?), his energy in person might feel extremely youthful...

you never really know. Especially thru a photo, to make those kinds of judgment

calls.

Oh and here's Anthony....

Also, Angela Stokes is an insanely impressive raw foodist...

harley -

just a note..I doubt this was intentional but with the photo comparison you are using a trick used in marketing for a llooooonng time. The photo of you was done with a high-res photo, perhaps semi-professionally, you are smiling and happy. The photo of your brother is either a low-res camera, bad scan and he is not smiling. While no doubt that he not as healthy looking as you these photo diferences tend to skew people perceptions.

Perhaps if you had a nice glossy smiling photo of your brother than it would be a more apt. comparison. Or a picture of you pre-raw with the same smile, good quality photo etc. - I 'd love to see a pre-raw picture of you !

Also lifestyle must be taken into account when comparing you and your brother. I doubt he is an ultra-endurance cyclist and probably doesn't have a regular exersize regime? ...which would certaintly help attribute for your strong glow and youthfulness.

Wow it is interesting to see who gets defensive here. I can see where this argument is coming from, people who are becoming raw usually are detoxing if they are just new or if they keep messing up. I have seen some pretty wrecked detox people in my time. Plus there are a group of people who are raw that may not be so into the social perspective personal hygiene or beauty. More of the free spirit idea than the I am raw here me roar soccer mom versions(which there are a lot of and growing). I do think that just about everyone I see who is raw looks younger. I worked at rawesome! and got mixed comments on how we looked. A raw food diet is only one side of the prism of man and some people can only see certain colors.

Ha,ha...very crudely put question....

There's good and bad in everything people do, there's raw people that look great and there's raw people that don't and it's the same with the cooked food diet, some folks look good and some don't.

I don't think basing health on looks is very wise because good looking people get sick too.....
