kaizen
Hello guys,I have been eating about 60% raw in form of fruits and vegetables and thinking about taking it to the next level. I am also trying to build my body by loosing fat and gaining more lean muscles( right now I am at about 18% body fat for 160lbs). I was looking around and came across Juice Feasting by Angela Stokes. I wanted to do this feasting, but it says I cannot work out untill I am into 45 days of feasting. I emailed Matt Monarch of rawspirit.org and he recommended to talk with Dr Fred Bisci. Seems like Fred has worked with lot of athletes and lifters. My main goals are to incorporate more green juices/raw food into my regimen and still workout 6 days/week. Right now I train 3 days of cardio and 3 days of Weights. While I eat healthy, my food right now includes fish and turkey ,cooked beans, eggs, rice and Quinoa flakes. I like the simiplicity of rawfood and clairty/high energy it gives me to do more productive things. I would appreciate if you guys can offer opinions on your experiences with Dr Bisci and/or Juice Feasting.Thanks,Kaizen.

Not to mention that fish, eggs and turkey in addition to not being vegan, they're not going to work well on a raw diet either, unless parasites and salmonella are something desired
kaizen
Guys,Thanks for your replies and I understand your thoughts on eating fish/turkey/eggs. Its not that I love to eat those foods and the reason I am eating is because I am trying to loose fat/gain muscle while training. The main reason I am trying to get in touch with Dr Fred is to get this part right while fulfilling my objectives. I will greatly appreciate if you can give your thoughts about my intent of the post.ThanksKaizen.
VeganEssentials
If you need protein sources, there's no shortage of them out there that are vegan. There are protein powders/meal replacement shakes (straight proteins like soy, hemp, pea or blends like Vega, Vegan Complete, Veganique, NitroFusion, etc.), soy/rice/hemp milk, nuts and seeds, legumes, high-protein pastas, imitation meat products, tofu, seitan, tempeh....enough things that if you want to build muscle you'll never have a problem. Don't let anyone's "expertise" convince you that these don't work as well for building muscle as eating animal flesh because it's not the case. I wouldn't have gone from around 205-210 lbs. to 285 and being MUCH more muscular and far stronger by eating these things if they didn't work as well. Matter of fact, my body responds much better to non-animal protein sources as far as my gains have come, so despite what others may claim, I can say first-hand that anyone who tells you that you "need" meat or dairy to add muscle does not know what they're talking about and is going off of outdated misinformation. There's plenty of choices, all you've got to do is find out what you like the most and go with it!

The China Study is a book well respected around here, which is why I made the inference.

It just so happens that I have an ethical problem as well, but that is entirely separate from their healthfulness.
DaN
Dude, I was eating fish, milk & eggs before I went Vegan only 5ish months ago. Since I stopped I have gained 14 lbs of pure muscle eating only Vegan foods.I agree with veganessentials, my body reacts better to plant protein. My advice, is go fully vegan, & you will be healthier & probably get better gains
Allantgy
I think the guy is gone I think you cant do things in the middle, or you are Omni or Vegetarian, because I dont think no one can help you to balance your diet if you are eating 50/50. If you are going to be omni then you need to add more lean meats...but I dont know anything else than that. If you are going to be 60% raw vegan then I think they can help you in this forum
