Very cool having a vegan bodybuilding site.


I've been vegan for 2 years and vegetarian a few years before that. In Jan 08, I went low fat raw vegan which has worked really well for me; I basically just eat raw fruit and green leafy veggies and a very small amount of raw nuts. One of the guys in the forum for the diet I use is a fitness trainer, and he told me about high-intensity weight lifting. Although I've dabbled in weights for over 30 years, I never used them intensely. About five months ago I switched to high intensity lifting and have been gaining about a pound of muscle a month since then. I'm 6 ft 1 in and 163 lbs. I have six pack abs even though I just started training cardio about 6 weeks ago. In addition to weight lifting, I like cycling around downtown Madison WI and practicing Jui-Jitsu.


I'm married with 9 and 10 yr old boys; they and my wife are all vegans, though they eat some cooked food. My resting pulse is 58, BP is 94/60, and cholesterol is 105. I can do a dozen 200 lbs machine flyes and about 16 reps on the leg extension machine using the entire 300 lbs stack; not to bad for a gray-haired 47 yr old.
