threeloaves
I've been using plain gemma for over a year now, and have had no problems. Recently, I purchased a custom mix of 45% gemma 35% hemp, and 20% rice. I've experienced cramps almost everyday since using it. That's the only thing I can think of that has changed in my diet. xjohanx
Is it stomach cramps you're talking about?Do you eat any other hemp products without this effect? And I guess you might have rice in your diet since before but if you didn't, how do you know it's not the rice protein that causes these cramps? Anyway, it sounds like a hard time. When I start eating something new on a regular basis I usually introduce it slowly to my system and that seems to work fine for me. Im Your Man
According to the good food combining rules, we should eat only one protein source at a time. Because it's already quite complex to break down the amino acids chains and then rebuild human amino acid chains, and each different proteins requires a different timing to breakdown. So if before you had only pea protein and you had no problem, and that now you're having problems with a mix or rice/hemp/pea proteins, it may be it... It would be way more effecient to separate each of those three at different times of the day.
threeloaves
Sorry I didn't specify - yes its stomach cramps. Before i discovered pea protein i was using nutribiotic rice, and had no problems with that either. That's the only source of hemp in my diet. xjohanx
Hmm, sounds like you are allergic I've read somewhere that it's usual for people who are allergic to eggs are also allergic to hemp. Do you know if you are allergic to eggs?
Im Your Man
I'm not an allergy specialist at all, I don't have any allergies, not that I know of -- but can allergies symptoms be stomach cramps? I thought it was always other things than that, like symptoms on the skin, etc...

It feels like you're gonna barf and like someone kicked you in the gut at the same time. I had it when I had some tea tainted with casein. It was awful. I'm a lot more careful when I order drinks now. Dairy also makes my skin red and break out too. Not hives but like.. pimples. On my face and stuff. Blargh. But maybe a lactose intolerance causes the cramps , and an allergy causes the skin reactions ? I should read a book on allergies to learn more, it's quite a fascinating topic, and a huge problem nowadays, more than before.
xjohanx
Abdominal cramps are one of the most common sympthoms of an allergic reaction caused by food.
