RAINRA
What movies that are mainstream show veganism or animal rights? As a positive thing not negative. I heard these movies were influencial. Name yours City Slickers (end of movie there is a talk about the cattle and why they won't be able to do the same thing again the next years. 5 minute discussion on how terrible it is. Martrix (can be seen in symbolism as breaking away from the norm and fighting for what you believe in) Fast Food Nation (the whole movie is about what is wrong with the meat industry today) Slaughter scene at the end of the movie got me thinking about what is going on and started me on this journey to veganism. HCPinGviini
Free Jimmy is hilarious. There's a Norwegian Animal Liberation Front and they're all vegans and at least I liked this movie. It made me laugh.
Im Your Man
I guess that you meant Matrix, not Martrix, right ? I really liked Fast Food Nation ! I'm wondering if Bruce Willis (I first wrote Bruce Lee then noticed my mistake...) lives and thinks like that in real life too. No mainsteam movies with veganism comes to my mind right now. But in Shoot'em up, the character of Clive Owen is the personification of Bugs Bunny, so he eats nothing but carrots.

CollegeB
last night american dad the show involved the chicken industry. the son got a job at a chicken processing place separating male and female chicks, he figured out what happened to them and then liberated all the ones he could. He was later betrayed and lost the chickens. I was surprised to see this on tv though.

VeganDeVil
I hated "Fast Food Nation', though. LOVED the book, and was excited about the movie coming out. I thought the first 40 minutes or so were great, and then it took a major nose-dive. For all the great narratives it had set up, it suddenly lost it's focus and didn't end up impacting me at all, and I was a supporter going IN. This isn't one I would recommend to anyone in hopes of turning them on to veganism or the evils of the fast food world.

xjohanx
not a movie but:friday night lights mention animal rights, not eating meat/dairy etc a couple of times. Mostly because one of the main characters mother marries a health food store owner who's vegan (allthough they're not in the series anymore). But also because real life vegetarian Aimee Teagardens' character is vegetarian in the series. I love football
Richard
In the movie "Powder", the main character makes a hunter feel what it's like for an animal that he has shot (using supernatural powers that allow him to share emotions / feelings) and the guy gives up hunting as a result. Dr. Pink
Supersize me is too obvious Bambi has a good underlined environmental message. Bambi's mother getting shot, the forest at the end burning. You don't see the humans. Just the terrible effects they cause.
xjohanx
I just read that a Swedish porno recently made was about vegan girls going out in the woods to have sex with moose hunters to prevent them from killing. Sounds hot

djshrew
Not really mainstream (molly shannon was in it though) but Year of The Dog, the whole movie is about her going vegan.
Im Your Man
Twelve Monkeys have a strong animal rights/veganism message, brad pitt plays a vegetarian/vegan activist, insane but still. The way to arrive to a total vegan and peaceful world is a bit extremist in this movie, but it's only a way to show how bad mankind mistreat animals and the planet, and that something must be done. I tried searching movies on imdb.com by keywords vegan, veganism, vegetarian; doesn't give interesting results, but Animal rights does.

VeganDeVil
There's a vegetarian zombie in the remake of 'The Day of the Dead.' I haven't seen it, it's supposed to be terrible, but there's a vegetarian zombie. I suppose it would have to be a vegan zombie then, right? Zombies can't cook eggs or eat cheese, after all. tuc
Really big & stupidly well endowed vegan guys wandering in the forest looking for hunters to bang would also keep the hunters away from the forests. On topic: Transamerica (2005): One of the characters says he's a "level four vegan--I don't eat anything that casts a shadow." This is a reference to an episode of the Simpsons where a vegan activist says "I'm a level 5 vegan--I don't eat anything that casts a shadow." Sounds hot They'd better take their guns and shoot them instead:P I don't know what most think. But I think killing a human is just as bad as killing an animal. It's kind of hypocritical when you think about it. The point of Veganism is to prevent death and suffering. IMO killing a human being would only bring a bad image to vegans. People will think were murderers and try and kill us. I think it would be best to( Instead of killing them ) try and show hunters why it's wrong to hunt. Fighting only causes more fighting. Two wrongs don't make a right. Though you were probably joking. I just thought I'd take this opportunity and over analyze
