DV
It's not the snow, it's the layer of ice under the snow!
Jessifly
Last year when they said it was gonna snow in Portland, that day came and went and I saw maybe 4 flakes of snow falling and melting before they touched the ground... my boss asked me if I wanted to go home early from work because of the weather, and he was serious... it's a little different in Colorado, the year before I moved out here I actually had to go into work during a blizzard and couldn't even get home from work because my neighborhood was buried in 5 feet drifts. I had to leave my truck stuck in a snowbank on the highway and snowshoe a half mile to my house. (My roommate was kind enough to trek out to bring me the snowshoes!) But anyway, I'll be very excite if I actually see snow on the ground here this weekend, I do love the stuff
CollegeB
Jess that sounds like where I'm from in TX. We get some ice and the number of auto accidents triple, and the shops close. Now here in southern IL it's a different story...

Jessifly
It DID snow! On Saturday morning I was up at Hoyt Arboretum and it snowed HARD for about 2 hours! Huge fluffy snowflakes falling amongst hundreds of trees! It was magical! And then this morning (Sunday) there is snow on the ground at the VHK! This is great! There was one point were the bus lost electricity and couldn't start for a couple of minutesso except delays if you're heading out there. It's so pretty outside. WOOO HOOO !! vivalasvegans
We had fun in my friend's mom's 4 wheel drive yesterday. I hope we get an ice storm today. I love the way this snow just shuts down so may peoples' hectic disconnected lives. It's good for us all to just stay home and chill every once in a while. It's so pretty and quiet outside right now...

vivalasvegans
Hey hey, it's not such a bad idea to throw some sunflower seeds or whatever out for the birds, raccoons, and possum that aren't used to this weather. Your neighborhood birdies might like a little fresh unfrozen water too... Now is the time to take care of our human and nonhuman neighbors. Although some people's "human" neighbors might not seem so human at times

I know snow is a PITA, but it has so long since we had a significant snowfall in my area I wouldn't a blizzard.
robert
This was the beginning when I could still stand on the ground and not loose my feet in a foot of snow Later it got worse. beforewisdom
Yep, I want a blizzard like that one. Once every few years is fine. I always keep enough legumes, grains, commode supplies and books around that being trapped for a few days would be relaxing.

robert
It is all gone...but here are some pics I took on Christmas Day. Check it! We had 19 inches of snow total during this snowfall, which for us, has been the most since 1950! I know it isn't much compared to other places...just up North in Washington they've had 47 inches in Spokane and like 6 feet in Massachusetts, but for us it was a big deal. http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/54/l_18001d2ecf9c472aa4ad953034f5e771.jpg http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/26/l_520da84c4dee4787b1d42305ab76fad4.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/27/l_010d316af79647eca4796ec661ed9163.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/22/l_c009d727d3c1456a9c566ff446b10b5d.jpg http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/61/l_6f8e5130ece34e0aa7f50f6bbcc45f62.jpg
