robert
Which influential person would you like to see become vegan? Just curious to see what names come up. For me...Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil McGraw, Brett Favre, and some popular cartoon characters...oh and many others including bodybuilders, fitness models and Pro Athletes across the board. Celebrity types, Manly-athlete types and otherwise influential people going vegan could help inspire a variety of different cultures and communities. Aside from "all and everyone" who would you really like to see go vegan based on their ability to influence others?
Richard
I'd like to see respectable and intelligent people become vegan - and stay vegan - as they would be good role models. It's no good having flaky brainless celebrities as vegans, as it can often harm the movement. So I guess I'm thinking of people like Stephen Hawking, Richard Dawkins - who write literature and animal rights / morality could form a part of what they write quite easily. Also, some other seemingly intelligent personalities, that a lot of people really identify with and respect would be Stephen Fry, Derren Brown, Bill Bailey, Simon Pegg. Probably one of the most influential comics in the UK would be Ricky Gervais, and he is often thought of as being intelligent - so if he were to become vegan, it could raise awareness quite a lot. Obviously this all involves the person in question becoming entirely vegan and committed. It's no good if they just screw around. Kind of sad that my list is of comedians. But I think those types of people (unfortunately) do command a lot of respect from people on some level, because people watch them for entertainment, and so they are paying a lot of attention to what they say. The trouble with a politician becoming vegan and becoming a role model, is that I think a lot of people consider politicians to be weird and inherently corrupt. So I don't know if they should be role models for much, the way things are at the moment anyway. But it would be good if that could change, where the public really trusted politicians and did think of them as role models. Perhaps it's different in America, but here, politicians just seem to get bad press no matter what.

I love that (Intelligent People and STAY VEGAN) - Great stuff! Good thoughts all around. +
Richard
Maybe some fictional characters since they can also be incredibly influential. Imagine if Buffy the Vampire Slayer had been vegan. Other options: Mario, Link, Sonic, Zangief... all it would take would be to write into the instruction booklet "Likes: vegan food. Dislikes: animal cruelty" and that'd be it, it'd show up on wikipedia, in all those lists... kids would be aspiring to it. And the character can hardly screw it up; they don't even exist. Sonic is especially easy to turn vegan, since the first game revolved around him rescuing animals in each level, it's on the right track
hsorlando
I would like to see more musicians that are into helping the world with organizations that they've created. Bon Jovi has done some good stuff, so has Ricky Martin, and many other musicians that are helping other humans, why not have them add helping animals.I also think it would be really cool if Barack Obama, and Al Gore were vegan! blabbate
Obama, definitely. I can't think of anyone else in the world who would bring as much visibility and respectability to veganism, and I think that's key. But that's an American perspective. Folks on other continents, who where you live would have even greater visibility?
ticktock
Obama and Michael Phelps, to be sure. Can you imagine the impact that would have? Beyonce is a good thought too..... I'm not particularly a fan, but she's freakin' huge. People like her, in the mainstream, with a passionate following.
Dr. Pink
Celebrities: The entire cast of SNL, Tyra Banks, Phil Collins, Adam Sandler. Fictional Characters: (lol I totally agree on Richards point. Sonic is perfect. Considering the originals can easily be identified as ananimal freedom/rights game ). Who else? A few Final Fantasy Characters( Mostly ones from 7, 8, 9 and X and a few from 6 ), Link, Mario, Leon. S . Kennedy from Resident Evil, The Zombies from Resident Evil( How cool would it be to have vegan zombies in the background petting undead animals? ), Master Chief from Halo( Imagine how many teenagers would follow his example ), Mama from the cooking Mama games( I'd so love an all vegan cooking game ) and more. Most ppl accept you can be in shape and vegan, even very athletic, but strongest man in the world.... Realistically though, a world leader would be great; come on Obama, you know you want to... Dr. Pink
Suzanne Vega( The girl who sings Luca ). It would be cool because her name is Vega. So she could become a Vega supporter. . The Psychedelic Furs. So when they do they can remove Fur out of there name and call themselves The Psychedelic Synthetics. . Captain Planet and the Planeteers. They are already spreading the message of enviromentalism now all they need is Veganism. . God. I mean damn. Just imagine how many people would go Vegan if he did. . Batman. Nuff Said. .
