I would like to see a chart with peoples body vs lift difference.

Hey everyone. The numbers are impressive for both males and females posted.

In a different view of that chart

I am curious if anyone thinks that the true strength measurement should be body weight to how much you lift and then take the difference from the two and that would be the true strength value. Because you can be 300 lbs and easily bench 200 if your fit and someone who is 120 may lift 145 lbs and be stronger.

So if some is 200 and benches 220 then their strength level is 20

if someone is 120 and benches 200 then their strength level is 80

so the one who is stronger is the 120 lbs. I am more curious to see who has the greatest gap between body weight and how much they can lift once more of these come in.

Kinda of like the whole thing on how ants can lift several times their own weight. That little ant is much strong ratio wise than humans.

just a thought...

great numbers!

As Mr. Spug Myers is fond of posting here and elsewhere (VF), strength-to-bodyweight is a skewed indicator of strength. Just like bigger people tend to have an advantage in terms of absolute strength, lighter people will have an advantage in relative strength. Lots of 150 lb men can squat 300 lbs, and that is far more common than 300lb men who squat 600 lbs. As for triple-bodyweight lifts, I believe there are lots more 120lbers with 360lb squats than there are 300lbers with 900lb (raw) squats. I think it is because, to maintain that strength-to-bodyweight ratio, every pound of added bodyweight requires 3 additional pounds on the bar, and that just isn't how it works. That gives lighter lifters an advantage as far as strength-to-weight ratio goes.

Anyways, bodyweights are listed on the strength table...

Pretty much what I was thinking. Would just like to add this link to the Wilks Coefficient for those who arent familiar with it. Wilks coefficient gives a fair comparision between (power)lifters of different size.

Wikipedia did not really explain why the powerlifters were credited over the lighter weight individuals.

And Ralst your saying then you can really compare the two because it is just different? I thought really everyone weight to lifting power were somewhat the same when it came to weight to lifting power ratio. It would be interesting to see at what point does weight no longer affect overall strength to begin with.
