Alejandro The Vegan
Since becoming vegetarian a year ago, and now Vegan for 2009, one of the most popular criticism I encounter is that "too much soy is bad for you." And of course they have no evidence, or any facts to give me, it's just something they heard. So I was wondering if anyone here has heard that argument? "that too much soy is bad for you" And if it is, why? or what is consider too much?
beforewisdom
Look at the sticky notes on the index of the nutrition board. Then use the search box on this site and veganfitness.com with the string "soy". No offense at all, this question gets asked all of the time and a lot has already been written about it. CollegeB
I think if you are waking up and having tofu (1 lb of tofu is my usual serving) for every meal and then like 4 soy protein isolate shakes with soy milk in them throughout the day and some soy delicious for dessert. Oh and don't forget your clif bars as snacks. You're probably overdoing it, but I think at that level you still probably wont experience negative effects unless you do it consitently everyday for a year, and even then the human body is amazing-it could take a few years to start showing negative side effects. It would be just as unhealthy to consume cheese or animal flesh at those rates also. Beforewisdom is spot on, consult the sticky for more info, and take it from there.
