I found this source for ingredient functions and thought it would be rather helpful for anyone who isn't quite sure of what certain ingredients lend to any recipe (baked or cooked). http://www.recipetips.com/kitchen-tips/t--657/ingredient-functions.asp It's a looong list, so I recommend doing a Ctrl + F to search for what you're looking for.
