Help! Soy protein powder results in impotency

Recommended Posts

I highly doubt that soy effect your potency but try rice, gemma or hemp proteins.

trueprotein.com allows you to make your own mix.

thanks for believing me it's not spam

as long as I know I'm not the only person here who's experiencing such problem:

2-SOY and soy containing products. I began to take notice of the fact that I was going through mood swings incrementally within a few months to a year of being a vegan. I just deduced it to ordinary changes in my lifestyle and the process of adaptation and pushed forward for a few more months, but the mood swings not only persisted, they worsened. At this time SOY was my main source of protein. I also noticed that fat distribution throughout my body was not evened out, I was taking on an almost pear shaped figure, despite my body fat being as low as 8% at one point. This sounds similar to how female bodies distribute fat now doesn't it? n addition I was also losing fat stores in my face at an accelerated rate (another female reproductive fat distribution signal?). To add insult to injury I was also impotent (to the chagrin of my girlfriend). At any rate one day I fortuitously stumbled into an article in a medical journal about phyto-estrogenic effects of excessive soy consumption and it needless to say saved me from who knows how many more unnecessary mood swings and impotency bouts. Immediately after reading this article I stopped eating soy (and products containing soy). Within 2 weeks my mood swings lessened until they completely disappeared and with the help of eating foods rich in zinc my potency level climbed back up again. I am not suggesting everyone is this sensitive to the estrogenic effect of soy, but I definitely was susceptible. And I added this here because I know a lot of vegans rely on soy as their main source of protein, or at least one of them.

I've read alot about this after I had this problem, and pretty sure it's the soy which is hypoestrogenic.

There are personal stories yes, and I wish that this subject would be researched further but science shows no effect on testosterone and/or estrogen levels in males at all. Another dude came to the forum and claimed to have the same problems recently. Maybe you can start posting in that thread and read what has been written there because it feels pointless to write the same things twice. http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17406

Yeah, I'm currently in the process of reading this thread. I thought it would be necessary to create another thread as long as we have different situations.

If your claim is true it is very likely a psychosomatic reaction.

Read this:

http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/soy_whats_the_big_deal

If you ate soy without knowing it you probably would not have such effects. Or then it can be because of some other reason since it has only been a week. In such a short period it should be impossible to have any effect on potency since it takes time for hormone levels to change and you probably haven't eaten 10 lbs of soy protein per day.

If I were you I'd get my testo and other levels tested. If your impotency is because of soy there is something wrong with your hormone balance.

That's the point of me posting here - I want to ask vegan AND bodybuilders about this problems, cause for sure in answer to link you posted, I can posted bunch of other opposite to it, like this for example:

http://www.liveleantoday.com/article.cfm?id=409

I would like to believe what's written in that t-nation website, but I've already tested soy protein myself - and got this huge problem

That's the point, I was not aware of this problem before using soy protein. I read about it only after problems started.

it's been almost 2 weeks actually. Here's a spreadsheet, where I wrote down my weight in order to keep track some changes:http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pAa28nFebz1iWw0an1bEwCA

I stopped doing soy protein 2 days ago. This weekend I'll have a test for my potency Pretty sure it will be fine by that time.

Kaayla T. Daniel is heavily involved in meat lobbies such as Weston A Price:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weston_A._Price_Foundation

She gets paid for telling people to stop eating soy and start eating meat. And that's bullshit. I hate her. I overhate her for abusing her Ph.D. status for lobbying meat and spreading rumors about soy which are just not true.

Also, that article didn't say anything about impotency. Just check how much soy you have to eat so that it will affect your testo levels by reading the link I sent you!

That's the point, I was not aware of this problem before using soy protein. I read about it only after problems started.

How much did you take? It is virtually impossible that it has had any effect on your testo levels even if you ate it 10 lbs a day. And if you did, low testo levels are the least of your problems.

You don't get results in 2 weeks anyway. That spreadsheet doesn't bring any relevant information to this discussion.

You can just try to fap now and you can tell instantly whether or not you can get it up.

Through all this time I had that 0.5 kilo pack I posted earlier. This means I had around 1 lbs in 14 days! I was just testing protein for the first time in my life, and it resulted in such frustration.

Well I DID get one result - lowering of potency, that's a fact.

Just did it - works fine! I'm so glad!!

I love happy endings!

Anyway, it's worth trying out pea, rice or hemp protein if it suits you better. And if you want to make money, scientists would be very interested in doing exams with you if you really get impotent by eating soy. It should mean nice amounts of money.

I'm just wondering why every guy thinks impotence is a problem. There are millions of women all over the world who groaned (in misery) when Viagra hit the market.

But seriously, any recently experienced impotency is most likely related to the phase of the moon, not ingestion of soy. There are many scientific studies to back this up. Oh yeah.

Screw scientific studies, I want to see online stores that sell non-moon powders with a 6 paragraph "article" that does nothing other than state the moon is evil.
