Swift.Birdman.Joe
I know eating a lot of processed soy stuff is not the ideal. But, it's cheap and high protein. What would you recommend as a good substitute? I've looked at the forums and articles on the site, and i've got some ideas, but i want to know what you think. caho
Legumes of most varieties (bagged or canned) are pretty high protein and relatively inexpensive. I am sure others will have some good ideas too.
vivalasvegans
The boca burgers that costco sells are 100 calories, 18 g protein, 8 g carb, 1 g fat. a protein shake is a fast way to get a hi protein low carb meal in too.
Guest
I don't think vegan burgers are that cheap at close to $5 ($4 and some change to be exact) a box. Also, they are high in sodium.
vivalasvegans
They're cheaper at costco. I think rice protein is the cheapest protein bang for the buck.
Guest
I did a search on Costco's website. There's a location somewhat near me, but I don't own a car. I was at Whole Foods Market yesterday and I saw a box of Amy's 1/4 pounders. They have 21g of protien/burger.
seitan_man
Tofu, Tempeh and Seitan as well as veggie protein shakes. Beans to me are carbs, even though they do contain quite a bit of protein.
Marcina
I LOVE Tempeh. Silvio made some the other night with some black bean sauce and I took it to work the next day. It was very good!
Twilight
Frozen Edamame is awesome if you can find it, i havent yet. You could also pick up some soy flour and some vital wheat gluten and make your own seitan. You could even use the soy flour to make some high protein pancakes (ive done it, theyre a little heavy but still full of pancake awesomeness). Also, the good old dark green leafies. Who said you cant learn anything from cartoons, thank you Popeye.
aryan
Tofu, nuts, and beans are all good sources of protein.
