Rob PMFF
I've decided to try these Durians that everyone keeps talking about. I just bought 2 from the international market here, and I have a few questions. 1. They were $1.59/lb is that a good price? I doubt I could find them anywhere else locally, but I was just curious. 2. They came frozen. Is there any reason to keep them frozen? Once they thaw, how long are they good for? 3. How the heck do you open them?
offense74
1. I don't know but it sounds cheap compared to here in Sweden. 2. I thaw them, open them and then re-freeze the edible inside of the fruit. 3. If they're really ripe you will see them "crack" at the bottom. You just tear it up with two hands, take out the flesh and repeat until all flesh is out. You might have to use a knife for the first insition but after then you will find the pockets. Good luck
Rob PMFF
Thanks for the tips...but I don't think I like this. It smells like a garbage can, and that's difficult to get past. And the texture and color reminds me of chicken fat. I'm going to try finishing the one I already opened. Not sure if I will eat the second one. I put some of it in a smoothie, hoping to mask it, but it still powers through the rest of the fruit. I'm not sure why so many people swear by these things.
