veggieprincess
By far the best Vegan cheese on the market http://www.daiyafoods.com/ It melts pretty much upon contact and none of that yucky aftertaste most Vegan cheeses have. A little bit adds a lot of flavor. Just add a couple tablespoons to your tofu scramble, or if you don't need to watch your fat and carbs... make a grilled cheese sandwich and I'll live vicariously through you eating it!!! YUMMMMMMM!!! The Whole Foods and Natural Health Food Stores by me carry it. What a great find!
lobsteriffic
I've been wanting to try it forever...but the only way I can get it is to order a giant 5 lb tub online. Not sure I want to order that much of something I may not like.
chrisjs
Yeah that stuff is awesome. Amazing how flavorful it is. It's been 13+ years since I've had real cheese, but I say this stuff is spot-on.
veggieprincess
lobsteriffic; You will LOVE it. Like no other Vegan cheese they've ever put out. Call the company direct and maybe they'd be willing to ship you a smaller sample first. Order the cheddar though. That's the only one I can vouch for. So flavorful! HawaiiDolphin
I LOVE Daiya but I try to use it SUPER sparingly since the nutrition facts are not as good as one would hope, but every now and then it's an AWESOME treat. I like to grate some into mac and "cheese" for optimum gooeyness.
vegimator
It's pretty cool that it's soy and gluten free but yeah, outside of that there's not a lot to love nutritionally. Delicious though!

lobsteriffic
TripleH - Viva Granola is an online Canadian vegan store that has it...but to my knowledge the minimum you need to order is 5 lbs. Don't know about NS, but I haven't seen it in SK to buy...but that's not really surprising.
TripleH
..SK and the Maritimes are a lot alike - can't get most of the good stuff here... 5lbs is too much... if they had 2lb sizes, I'd jump on it, but............ If you decide to get 5lbs, let me know, I'll buy a couple of lbs from ya
Eksster
The website look sunder construction. How do they ship it? Does it not need to be cold? How's the price? Economics of vegan cheese aren't where I'd like them to be from what I've seen.
godisagnostic
Daiya is amazing. Cheddar and mozzarella are both amazing. My only complaint is that it is really high in fat so it sometimes make me feel a little greasy, but it's good to have a few times a week.
TripleH
..how long does it last? ..having to buy a 5lb bag I'd need it to last
vegimator
..how long does it last? ..having to buy a 5lb bag I'd need it to last You'd have to freeze it. It lasts maybe 2-3 weeks in the fridge. I've heard it freezes well though.

chrisjs
Good stuff, can anybody say macaroni and cheeeeeeeesssssssaYeah! Actually this Amy's rice mac and cheese uses daiya: http://www.amys.com/products/product_view.php?id=43 It's a bit heavy but tasty.
CollegeB
I agree. Good stuff. Rarely do I have vegan cheeze on hand, but I have this stuff around often.
chrisjs
Wegmans now carries it as well. They're a slightly upscale supermarket here in the midatlantic/northeast. (Well, actually now that I think of supermarkets I've been to elsewhere in the country, Wegmans is normal and all the other supermarkets in this area are ghetto.) $4.99 per 8oz package of shreds, which was slightly cheaper than the Organic Horizon Cowpuss Shreds it was next to. Fallen_Horse
Just made a pizza with the mozzarella. Seems about as good as Vegan Gourmet Mozza, but I am still gonna try the cheddar...
chrisjs
The cheddar is tastier than the mozzarella, but both are good. Daiya is definitely melts better and has a better texture than Vegan Gourmet... the flavor is better too I bet it you went back and tried the VG right now you'd taste a funk in it you hadn't noticed before. Tweedle
mmmmmm daiya. I went (back to) raw a few weeks ago, but I've still got a bag of daiya in the freezer that I'm definitely going to dive into on a special occasion. My boyfriend was trying to steal it the other day... "Hey...since you're all raw and what not... are you gonna eat that Daiya?" "UM HELL YES, DON'T TOUCH MAH DAIYA" hahaha really though it's awesome.
