katheryne
So I have decided to run a half marathon in the beginning of September and then the biggie, the Houston marathon on January 30th 2011. I have a whole bunch of 5ks in between. I am excied, my best friend lives in texas, it will be great to see hima nd his wife. I have been running for a few years now and I finally feel like I am ready for longer races. I have a training plan from runnersworld and I am of course going to keep up with my weight training. Jason X
I used to. I don't ride anymore. I've raced road, mtb, cross and track. And alleycats, if that counts. I got outta that game though. I kept reinjuring my knee and got sick of it. I might be back someday though. We'll see. I wouldn't be surprised. 5 years in one sport does that to ya. Tarz
Hope your training is on track Katheryne, and you've upped your mileage ready for the race. That's all I'd really recommend - doing a few 10/11 and 14/15 mile runs so your used to the distance, with some of the longer runs close to race pace. Done three half's this year: 1.17.43 (4th place) - awful weather, probably lost 30-60 secs as a result1.16.01 - (6th place)1.17.03 - (4th place) - hilly course, with one killer hill Want to do a few more before end of year as want to break 1.16 and 1.15 - should be able to to no probs on right course in decent conditions.
