Building muscle

Is it really possible to build a nice bod being vegan? You cannot tell me carnivores and vegans get the same results...or nutrients. A protein is not a protein. You need all essential amino acids...some can only be found in meats...what does a vegan do to get these aminos.....?

Of course it is. Stop over-thinking things and just eat, train and sleep. Would this website and forum exist if it wasn't possible? I doubt it.

I'm quoting one of your first posts on the forum here:

Been a vegan about a year now and i'm not happy with my "skinny-ness"...I once had a nice "thickish" build, but in those days i was still a carnivore....I was eating alot of calories..high protein - animal protein... gave it up ...So, what do I do? As a vegan .. that wants a muscular bod?????

The same principles apply as a vegan. There is no magic supplement, no magic food and no magic workout routine that will do it for you. You generally need to consume a lot of calories, eat high protein foods and train consistently.

A lot of the time people think they are eating a lot, when in reality, they are not. If you want to, write what you would eat in a normal day and what kind of training you do and people might be able to give you some more specific advice.

Have a look through the interviews with vegan bodybuilders and strength athletes here, if you need proof. I'm sure some of them started out training as omnivores, but there's plenty of people out there who started training and gained a lot of mass as vegans, including Robert Cheeke, the creator of this website and forum.

I cannot? Damn that sucks.

Please name one essential amino acid that's only found in meats. You're entirely wrong on this. Plants aren't lacking any of the essential amino acids, though it's absolutely true that the ratios in most plants individually are different than what we need, causing them to be somewhat erroneously named "incomplete."
